One of my girls has decided that she would like to stand on her own. She pulls up on everything: the dogs, the couch, her exersaucer, EVERYTHING! The problem is, she can stand there for about 5-8 seconds and then she crashes down. A lot of the time, I can catch her. However, there are some times when I am chasing her sister or making food that its hard. Is there anything I can do to keep her from hurting herself? Or is there a time frame that I can expect her to be a little more stable? She is fearless!

She will definitely get more stable as she learns. The most you can do is try to encourage pulling up on softer things like chairs & sofas and preferably on carpet. That way when she crashes there's less likelihood of her hurting herself. On the positive side, just falling that small distance isn't likely to hurt her too badly and she will definitely learn to hold on after a few crashes!

Yep, you can't stop this one mama. Mine were pulling up at that age too--watch out because they will probably walk early too. We did put a few blankets or pillows behind some of the things they pulled up on, but that was it.

LOL! I don't have any advice since mine were a little behind on this, but I was going to say that you needed to ask Rachel (sullivanre)! Her boys were really advanced physically and had a tough time keeping them from climbing. Take all the advice she can give you!

And :clapping: for having a strong little girl there!

I agree there isn't much you can do! And here is where it starts to get fun!

I need to put that picture of Mark climbing the superyard at 7 months back up. I saw that the other day. That's the other thing--first they pull up and then they climb.

Another thing that I thought of is that maybe you should help her stand up, so her legs get stronger and she's not so wobbly. We started doing that with our boys at like 3 months old, and as long as we held their hands they could bare their weight, so when they pulled up on their own, they had more strength.

Another thing we did, when we had to get something done--put them in the jumper or the exersaucer. It can contain them and you don't have to worry about them pulling up and falling over, which an happen in a play yard.
