did your babies grow out of their reflux? My boys are 6 months now and I'm just wondering how much longer they will need to be on medication. I heard most outgrow it by a year but I'm just wondering what the average is. TIA
My ds had severe reflux and he started to outgrow the symptoms around 9.5/10 months. That's when he started crawling and pulling up on things, and the doctor did always tell me that once he starts doing these things he'd strengthen the muscle that was weak and was causing the reflux. I did keep him on his meds until he was 13 months because we went out of the country for a month when he was 1, and I've heard that symptoms can return {if it hasn't completely passed} up to six weeks after stopping meds. I wanted to be sure it didn't catch us away from home, so we stuck with it. I think that I could have stopped him at 11 months, he was a TOTALLY different person after the reflux was gone. Good luck and I hope that it ends quicker for you guys.
Both of my girls have reflux and they are almost 13 months old (only 9 months adjusted though) and still on the medicine. The symptoms have definitely gotten better, but they most certainly still need their medicine.
It got much better at about 8 months for us and we were off meds by 9 months. We stopped the thickened feeds too.
