    Hi, Everyone.

My DD is the only one out of all four of my kids to take to the paci. Now, what age is good to try and break her of it? My DH is in the Airforce, and he left about a month a go for a year. I'm still BFing and plan to wean slowly when the twins are ready. I don't want to take away too many comforts, especially with DH gone. What would you try to do first? Wean from BFing or the paci? I was hoping to find a sippy cup that they will acutally drink from. Then, maybe start cutting down on bfing (they still nurse 6-8x/day). I don't want to go any further than 2 years with bfing or the paci. What do you all think?

We took our girls paci's away a few months ago, now they just suck their tumbs, so didn't work very well for us. Except, that they don't drop thier tumbs out of reach.

Don't know if this helps at all, good luck.

I think I'm going to make my first attempt at 18 months, if that fails miserably, then I'll have it gone by 2 years old. Just one of mine take it, the other sucks her thumb (only when falling asleep, holding a blanket).

We got my girls taking their pacis only at naptime and bedtime around 11 months. I said then we'd take them away by the time they were two but I don't think that's going to work for us b/c they are SO attached to them. Pacis are their only "security" thing and I don't think they're old enough to grasp the long term concept of the paci fairy. I'm hoping to get them into the dentist in the next few months and I'll see what he says.

I restricted pacis at 18 months to naps, bedtime, and long car rides. They self-weaned at 2.5 years.

I only have 1 that likes the Paci and we have restricted it to just naptime, bedtime and long car rides. Honestly I have no plans to get rid of it anytime soon.

Mine still have them for nap/bed time only. I really wanted to take them away at 18 months but didn't and I regret it big time as they are SO attached to them now. I am hoping to do it soon...
