at what age for Blankets

At what age did you start covering your babies with blankets. I used to when mine didn't move around that much, but now they are all over their cribs through the night. I have tried with them a few times and Dakota would end up wrapped up like a burrito and couldn't get out of it.

Bea likes to sleep on top of hers. Ainsley will lay down and I cover her, not sure if it stays on or not. I figure, the blanket is in the crib, if they want it, they can cover themselves. They are wearing fleece jammies for the winter, so I don't think they are cold.

 

Mine have blankets in the crib with them, but they NEVER stay under it!!! I wonder when as well!!

 

I'm not sure when the magic age is. Mine were 18 months when winter hit and we thought that they could use them and not hurt themselves. They won't go to sleep now without them, even in the summer.

 

Mine have always had a blanket. They stayed covered when younger, but as they were able to move around the blankets ended up balled up underneath them or stuck in between the mattress and rails. They each have two now. I usually cover them once while they are asleep, but they never wake up that way. DD likes to lay on top of them with her butt in the air. DS pulls one over him halfway.

We have blankets in there, but 90% of the time they end up on top of the blankets.

 

My girls started using a blanket around 10 months old. They did fine. Alissa sometimes likes to sleep on top of hers. Victoria, complete opposite, LOVES to be snuggled underneath hers.

 

I put blankets in their cribs just after they turned one, but mostly because we had these beautiful quilts their aunt made and I wanted to use them. The girls pretty much ignore them. I don't even try to cover Amy up because she is all over the place. I'll sometimes pull Sarah's up after she's asleep, but it's usually off her by morning. They wear sleep sacks and blanket sleepers for warmth.
