My twins are 6.5 months old. My DD cries everytime we sit down to eat. I will pull out her stage 2 baby food and she clamps her mouth shut. So, the other day at breakfast, I gave her a piece of raising bread(without a raisin in it) and she LOVED it. My 3 year old kept breaking small pieces off and giving it to her and she LOVED it!!!!!

Is this OK? When did you start giving your babies non baby food items???? TIA

    Have you tried puffs?

Make sure that you watch her very carefully for a while. You want to make sure she can handle swallowing them.

I think that was about the time I started giving them. You want to make sure it is small, and not hard, so as not to choke.

Instead of using teething cookies, I used pizza crust. They loved chewing on that for a while, and it was less messy.

Have you tried Biter Biscuits? (Gerber makes them, I think).

Mine LOVES bread too. Both of them actually will come and "beg" for some when we have bread, evenif they have ust been nursed or ate. But i watch them the whole time... they actually eat everything really, including olives (small pieces - their dad is greek he he he so he is proud)

We were told 7-7.5 months to start solids (real solids) but it sounds like she is doing okay!

My DD eats cheerios, pieces of melon, bread, pieces of veggies, etc... My DS does not even attempt to put anything in his mouth. It is interesting to compare as it seems that they really are not ready until they try or they show interest.

    My babies are 7mos. old

I giev them some things here and there but they have puffs (parents choice are softer to me) and biter bicuits, Zwieback toast, cherrios and sometimes a bite of bread. Just be careful since it can get lodged in their throats... Feeding is fun and nervous feelings all in one...
