At what age did your kids know their names?

My kids are 16 months and I don't think they know their names yet. For the last month or more, each day I practice with them, asking them "Where's Mommy?" "Where's Misha?" and "Where's Cyan?" They're pretty good at pointing to me when I ask about Mommy, but at least half the time they point to their twin when I ask them their own name. Sometimes they even just point across the room. Should I be worried? What age did your kids learn their name? Thanks!

I don't remember when K&K did but I have a 9 month old niece who will look whenever her name is called. Not sure if it is just the tone or the actual word but I would think they would be recognizing their names. Do you use any nicknames? If you or any family/friends do then I might suggest asking everyone to use their real names for the short term at least so they can get a grasp on how to identify themselves. I know I use alot of terms like, buddo, lovey, cutey boy, peanut, K, P and maybe nicknames like that slow down name recognition?

Peyton and Courtney both went by the name "Peyton" for about 2 to 2 1/2 years. They eventually worked it out. I wouldn't worry.

At almost 22 months, both my boys respond when their name is called, but Jackson will point to either himself or Ethan when I ask where is Jackson. Ethan will usually point to Jackson. I'm not worried though since they both respond to their individual names when I call them.

Just last night, I asked them to tell me their name and they both did! I thought that was so cool! They have known each others names for awhile now. I'm not sure when they officially new their names, however, now they can tell me their names, which they haven't before.

Charlie and Kate both know their names. When I say Charlie's name, he will look at me and say "huh?". Kate will just look at me. But when I ask them where Mommy or Ellie are, they don't understand. They know Dada though (and he isn't home with them all the time!). Last night DH was out mowing and Charlie and Kate were watching him out the window. Charlie kept pointing out the window, saying "Dada", and then looking at Kate to make sure she understood. It was so darn cute.

My kids used to do the same thing until they were about 22 months old. They knew their names because the correct one would respond if I called one, but when I asked, "Where is ..." they would point randomly to each other. Each of them also called himself "me" and pointed to himself when referring to himself but then would also call his twin "me" and pointed to the other twin. They finally learned to say their own names and their twin's name correctly around 2 years old. (Only their shortened names, we're still working on their full first names.)

I think it was only natural that they got confused about their names when so many people were getting it wrong and calling them by the wrong name all the time. (My kids look very much alike and even their grandparents get it wrong sometimes.)

I don't think mine would respond if I asked where the other twin was, but they will each look at someone if their name is called. So if I say "Emilie" or "Trevor" they will look at me, they know their name that way.
