believe me, i'm not complaining- my boys are going from 6:30 to about 6am with only one night waking around 2ish- but lately i've noticed they're stretching out to 4 or 4:30,. so i'm wondering if they are old enough to make it 12 hours now??? i feel like 10 hours is pretty darn good really but i do wish they would make it to bed later that would be a dream-like 8pm to 6am instead of 6-4,. but they are tired at 6ish so that has been bedtime. we recently started cereal- i don't know if that has to do with it but i feel like they get enough nourishment, they're 17lbs3oz, and 17lbs 5oz at 5 1/2mnths. anyway i was curious what age yours started to go longer stretches

at 6 months they were sleeping 11 hours. When they were five months we did CIO and every once in awhile we would hear a cry out but at 6 months there were no night wakings.

Mine didnt start sleeping through the night untill 9.5 months which was a nightmare. But i would think that at 5months they would be ready to try and go a bit longer. x

    Before DLST ... I am hoping that 6 will become 7 ...

My twin girl has been sleeping 6 to 6 since about 3 months. My twin boy will sleep from 6 til 3-5 am and then another short stretch.

My oldest did 7 to 7 at 3 months, and 6 to 7 at 4 months.

Like the previous poster, my DD started it way earlier than my DS. DD was doing it at about 4 months, and DS didn't start until 6 months. They both did it on their own, I never had to do CIO to get them to drop a feeding. If I had ever gotten to the point where they were not really eating at that last feeding, then I would have done CIO, but as long as they are eating...I would think they still need it.

We were able to through the night, without a feeding, at around 4 months or so. BUT, and I say that with a HUGE disclaimer, we had to go in often to soothe, replace binkies, or to reswaddle. Granted, we would do those things and they would go RIGHT back to sleep, but I don't know if some people would consider that "sleeping through the night." We did, because it is much easier to pop a binky right back in, than having to get up, make a bottle, heat it, get them to finish it, and get them back to sleep.

By the doctor's definition, 9 weeks. By your definition, 11 months. They had one 3-4ish feeding for a loooooong time but I didn't want to do CIO and they eventually stopped on their own. They've been sleeping 11-12 hours at night reliably ever since.

Mine would sleep the 5 hour stretch at 4 months... they did usually still wake atleast once... I think around 8 months they really began to sleep ALL night long. But remember a DR/Pedi considers the 5 hour stretch as sleeping thru.

At my girls' 4 mo. appt. their pedi told us to drop their nighttime feeding as it was likely for comfort, rather than hunger. We did this around 4.5 months and one of my girls started sleeping almost 12 hours that very next night! My other one took about 9-10 days of CIO before she would sleep through and still wakes up occasionally, fusses for a couple of minutes and then back to sleep. So, they have been sleeping 11-12 hours since 4.5 and almost 5 months.

Two weeks ago...at around 10 months. Unfortunately we had to do (and are still doing) CIO which I hate but they were each getting up 3 or 4 times a night.

My girls started sleeping 8 hrs a night at 5 weeks. Then at about 2 months they started sleeping 12-14 hrs a night. They did this until about 6 months old (they got sick)and it went down hill until 8 months when I started CIO.

Hello. I am new here. I have been reading topics for awhile, but haven't posted. This is my first post. My b/b twins started sleeping through the night at 9 weeks, sleeping 10pm til 7am with only awaking if they needed to be pulled up.( beds tilted 45 degree for GERD). Now at 13 weeks they sleep 8pm til 7am with no wake ups. There is the occassional pull up cry, but right back to sleep they go afterwards. This usually happens once or twice a week. They are good sleepers at night. Looking forward to reading posts. I have learned alot. Thank-you

The night my girls turned 10 weeks old, they slept through the night for 12 hours. Actually, we woke them at just over 12 hours to give them their morning bottles since they had gone such a long stretch without eating at such an early age. Every night ever since, except for a few ear infections, they've slept for 12 hours every time. YAY sleep! And yay to the book I used to train them to sleep. It paid off!

Mine didn't sleep thru completely until about 13 months when we did CIO. We initially started cio when they were about 6 months, but everyone got sick, sleep completely went crazy, and we stopped cio until later.

Our boys started sleeping through the night at 3 months or so (8p to 8a). They would never take a late night feeding, so I would just feed them at 3am and put them back down. Then one night, they didn't wake up at 3. And, it's been like that ever since.

I now wish my 2 year old daughter would sleep so well...she's getting up with the sun. [IMG]

    HI,

I think the statement "sleeping through the night" is a little bit of a misnomer. Up to 9 mo I believe that a baby will go 6-10 hours, but not usually more than that without food. I also found with my boys that trying to change their bedtime (to later) didn't gain me anything except fussy babies at night and they woke at the same time int he morning.

I guess I'm ecstatic that my son Cole only wakes once in the night at 4am -- it used to be so much more!! and he's 7 mo. There is a belief out there that babies will sleep through when they are ready.

Mine woke at 4am for at least a month then they slowly stopped. By about 6-6.5 months they started sleeping all the way through. We still have to get up sonmetimes to put pacifiers back in, but no more nursing usually.

Mine started sleeping 10-11 hours at 2 1/2 months, now they sleep 11-12 hours with occasional wake ups during the night which can require anywhere from a 10 second pat to an hour rocking.

At 11 weeks, they went from 10pm-7am. During 12-16 weeks, we cut out that 10pm dreamfeed and they started sleeping from 8ish until 7am. They both went to 7:30pm-7am about 5 months.

We did CIO at 5.5 months. Mine having been sleeping through since then. Sleeping through was going from 8-7 without bottles. We did have some night wakings for pacis; however, they were quick. In the past month they have not been waking at all . . . YIPPIE! Enjoy all the sleep you are getting!

Both my girls took night feedings until we started weaning them off of them just after 7 months old. They still woke about twice a night at that point. I weaned them very gradually and it took a few months but they were sleeping through the night by 9-10 months old and we've never had any night wakings (except for due to sickness) since then.
