I just wanted to know what age everyone's babies transitioned from 2 naps to 1 and how did you know it was time and how did you do it??

    Thanks!

I think they were about 16/17 months. Basically they started not sleeping the majority of the time during the afternoon nap. So I pushed back the morning nap and dropped the afternoon one.

well, Arwen stopped taking the afternoon nap at about a year but Lorien still needs that nap. I knew that Arwen didn't need it anymore when she had been awake in her crib for 30 min or so everyday for about a week and would eventually cry for me to come get her. She just didn't need that nap. She also didn't show any kinds of sleepy signs. Lorien on the other hand can almost never make it without the afternoon nap. Her eyes get glossy and she rubs her eyes and gets cranky and I know she needs like a 30-60 min nap. I have pushed the am nap up a bit which is sometimes hard for Lorien but I really need them to nap together at least once in the day and to have a small break since our day starts at 6am. Usually by 10am they will both go down for a nap and sleep about an hour and a half sometimes more. You just have to go by them really.

19 months here. They started skipping the afternoon nap and then getting very cranky at dinnertime. At the same time, they were getting sleepy later in the morning and napping longer. Really, they did it themselves.

Mine are still taking 2 now, but I am planning to get them down to one by the time school starts again for my oldest DD at the end of August. It is just getting too hard to try and squeeze 2 naps in the school day. They will be 18.5 months at that point. I plan to just push the morning nap back. I'm going to try and be a little flexible this summer and see how it goes. My oldest DD was around 19 months. She would take her morning nap around 11 ish and then didn't want an afternoon nap, so I just moved it to 1:00.

Mine dropped it on their own at 14 months. They are up about 4 hours in the morning (up by 6 down by 10) and take a 2-3 hour nap and then stay up until bed at 8 pm.

Sophie stopped a couple of weeks ago having a nap in the afternoon but Jack still goes down. It just got to the point where Sophie was just sitting in her cot crying or playing for a hour. I have to put her in her cot too untill he falls asleep though or he just cries!! They have a 1 1/2 - 2 hour nap in the am and Jack has a 1 hour nap in pm. x

My boys dropped their morning nap at 17 months when both naps started getting shorter. Now they take one long nap in the mid afternoon.

Just after the twins turned 1. I knew because they weren't sleeping well at night and it took a while for them to fall asleep. Now they are on 1 2 hour nap.

I think that I've read/heard somewhere that the average age to go down to one nap a day is about 15-18 months. I have tried it recently with my two because of older kids' activities. Plus, it would make our schedule a bit more flexible, but the babies were IMPOSSIBLE from about 4:00 until bedtime. So, we're back to 2 naps a day. I'm hoping to cut down to one by the time school starts.

Mine are at Daycare 3 days/week and have 1 nap. When they are home the other days, they still have 2 (2 hours each).
