hi i wrote earlier about my wife having a bad respitory infection.

now at 22 weeks she has been diagonsed with asthma and has to take a pump twice a day to help clear her lungs and avoid the bouts of cough and breathlessness

anyone else had asthma during their pregnancy - please let us know.

    thanks

i had it with my first pregnancy. it went away after i had him. i do think it's back with this twin pregnancy, though.

  4. Asthma is a funny creature. I have pretty bad asthma, but when I have been pregnant, it goes away. You never know whats gonna happen with it.

I have asthma, but it seems to get better when I am pregnant. Its weird. But I keep up with all my meds throughout my pregnancy.

I have had asthma almost all of my life, and was really concerned about going into labour and trying to breathe without hypervenilating, and having an attack. Surprisingly enough everything was ok, and I do take my ventalin everyday....these meds will not harm your babies. Hopefully all is well with her, and she will be able to cope through her labour.

PS. If your wife can't breathe, neither can the babies, so make sure she takes her meds.

i was diagnosed at 14 with activity induced asthma but i out grew it as i got older. after having married a man that has always had problems with sinuses i honestly believe that i was misdiagnosed! sinus can cause asthma like symptoms! especially breathlessness and coughing spurts. i have had problems with migraines, asthma and sinuses in my life time and i can say that i'd rather know the exact cause and not be misdiagnosed ever again.

i would ask your DR. to make sure that it is one and not the other. because i was always given the wrong meds for the asthma and some sinus meds don't work for me because of the misdiagnoses. and if you have to...get a second opinion. i am not saying that it isn't asthma but it is possible that her problems with her breathing and coughing can be inflamed by sinus!

    just a thought!
    lots of love!
