My duo are turning two a week from today ( :yahoo: ) and we are throwing a birthday party for them at our house. We're setting up some crafts tables for the kids. I'm looking for some fun craft ideas other than crayons/paper (though this is always fun!) that would appeal to toddlers. Any fun suggestions that your kids enjoy? Thanks so much and excited to join you all over here in a week's time:)!

This may not be age-appropriate, but I saw THIS post online for a "superhero party" where the kids made their own superhero capes from cheap fabric and sticky-back felt. It's such a great idea, I think I will steal it one day! :D

For the girls' 2nd birthday party, I had some of those foam stickers to put on construction paper. I also had paint markers (they are washable off clothes and kids) that was a huge hit! And something else I learned from the teachers at daycare--you take sidewalk chalk, dip it in water, and have the kids draw on black construction paper. After they're done, you can spray some hairspray to preserve it. It's actually quite neat!

    Hope this helps!

I'd go with stickers for the low mess factor. My kids love all different kinds. They could decorate their own party hat or something. Or I sometimes do different construction paper cut outs and have them help glue or stick things down. We've done a heart-shaped lady bug and they stuck on all the spots. And recently we did flowers. I glued down a circle and had different colored petals cut out and let them glue them around the circle. It's funny to see a flower interpretation in a 2 year old's eyes. The petals in any random order, sticking out in all directions, some not attached at all. Very sweet.

We also have stamps with stamp pads (probably on the messy side!) and paint with sponge shaped stampers.

If you have them create something that you want the kids to take home with them, one thing I love doing is taking pictures of them while they're creating it and attaching it to the artwork. Like I always have them do home made cards for birthdays and holidays. Usually just random scribbles and stickers. But on the inside or back I print off and attach a picture of them making it. It might be a cute thing for the parents to have.

Here are a couple ideas for you:
    Foam and Button Frames

Hearts to Paint (make the shapes ahead using molds and just have paints ready to go)

The girls made the hearts and decorated the frames when they were two.

Mine enjoy coloring, stickers, gluing pom-poms so far. You could also get some of the small packs of play-doh and cookie cutters. You could have crown shapes cut out and let them glue shapes and pom-poms and color. I struggle with the craft ideas too. Good luck and have fun!!
