Arrival of Raazaq & Raazia

Hello Eveyone:

I just wanted to inform you that I gave birth to my twins on Friday, May 30, 2008.
Unfortunately, they arrived at 35 weeks and 2 days. However, they are doing great! My birth story is not as exciting as some of the ones that I have previously read. Nevertheless, here I go:

My water broke at 3am on Friday morning. I was told to come into the hospital and arrived there sometime after 4am. Because my water was not leaking continuously, my doctor did not come in to check me at all. I was just hooked up to the monitors and was seen by the next doctor in their practice around 7am. This doctor confirmed that my water indeed broke and started me on pitocin.

I went through the aches and pains of contractions for several hours. Around 8 pm, I could no longer take the pain and requested an epidural. I was promptly given the epidural and check right after indicating I was fully dialated and ready to go. My twins stayed head down since about 28 weeks. Therefore, I was going to try for a vaginal delivery.

I pushed for two hours to no avail. Both twins were head down but facing sunny side up. I was later told one of the hardest ways to deliver. Just as they were about to give up and prep for a c-section, the doctor used a suction and I miraculously pushed out my baby boy, Raazaq ( 5.9lbs) at 10:17pm and baby girl, Raazia (5.6lbs) at 10:28pm.

Both were immediately sent to the NICU and have been there ever since. They should be home by Friday. I came home yesterday. They are doing great. I am about to go and see them now. I will post pictures as soon as I can.

Congratulations! Hey, "not exciting" is great when it comes to birth stories! They were great weights and 35 wks is pretty good (that's what mine were and they are in excellent health!) Can't wait to see the pictures. Have your stepkids seen the babies yet? :birthday: to you sweet twins!

Thanks! Yes, they have seen the babies. They are so excited. They get really disappointed if they can't come to the hospital with me. I think that they will be great helpers once they come home. BTW, today, I got both baies to breast feed. I am really happy about that.
