I've given them pureed sweetcorn on a couple of occasions -

It's ok. Just don't feed them corn anymore. I'm sure they're fine as long as they haven't shown any signs of a bad reaction. I bet they pooed over the moon though!

FYI, for anyone who doesn't know corn is a no-no mostly because it has almost no nutrition but it's also a possible allergen along with chocolate, egg whites, tree nuts, peanuts, citrus, strawberries and shellfish.

Wow! I did not know that! I also have pureed corn for them before!

My thought is just because a baby food company makes a food doesn't mean you should feed it. You can't really rely on them to always know/do what's best for your baby JMO.

I forget what the Gerber veggie is, but I definitely gave it to them on more than one occasion before they were a year old! That darn Gerber! They shouldn't make a Stage 2 food if it shouldn't be eaten, kwim? Some of us mommies are clueless and believe that if it's on the shelf and called STAGE 2, it's okay to eat. We don't need that added confusion.

I give it to them now and it's frozen in the bag. It has NOTHING of value in it, but I think it helps DD when she needs a good poo. :)

There was a baby food with corn in it that I gave my two, and it never bothered them. Except that then, and now when they eat it, they poo out the shells, it still looks like whole kernel corn in their diapers, LOL

Gerber makes Sweet Potato and Corn in Stage 2 ... the twins have no problems with it. They also eat the Apple Pear and Strawberry Stage 2 ... fine with that too. At home they also have 6 month old jars with orange ... also fine for my twins.

My oldest was eating regular (frozen) corn at 8 months as well. Still loves it.

Luckily we don't have any food allergies in our family and so far all kids have been fine with everything.

oops! i didn't know that one! i've been buying the "mixed" frozen veggies to make some of their baby food. of course, i also feed them strawberries & found out after the fact that was a "1 year" food too! luckily we haven't had any problems so i don't see why i shouldn't continue. i'll wait till they are a year to give them plain corn though (although if it alters their poo that bad, i may just skip it all together!!).

    That's funny.

Mine have already had corn as well. I find dad's don't always know what they are or aren't supposed to feed them. ;) They have also already had oranges, the same way. Oh well, we haven't had any food allergies in our kids so I guess we're lucky that way.

Mine have had corn too and they seem fine. Plus they have had all the stage 2 foods with no problems. No allergies here though.

now i dont feel so silly! I'll just avoid it til they are 1 year old. I didn't know there's no nutrients in sweetcorn - just a lot of fibre!!
