I just have to laugh. The other day while vacuuming I had the twins up on the couch. Ben was so fascinated and sat there and watched and Emily just screamed. I am curious, are your twins scared of the vacuum?

Hannah and Jack love the vacuum. They will just sit and stare at me while I vacuum. It's even put them to sleep before. I remember one day Jack would not stop crying and I had tried everything to soothe him. I finally went and got the vacuum cleaner turned it on and he went right to sleep. Poor Emily I hope she gets use to it.

Mine are petrified of it.......It makes it really hard to find time to get that chore done.

Ours were afraid of the vacuum for a long time. We just tried to make it "fun" by cheering and dancing when we were vacuuming. Soon they started to like it and when they started to walk they started dancing to the vacuum. [IMG]

Riley is deathly afraid of the vacuum, she shakes and cries so hard she forgets to breath. I actually put the vacuum down the hall so she doesn't go into my bedroom. Skylar loves the vacuum, she falls asleep to it.

They don't seem to be at this point and if they are crying and fussy, the noise seems to calm them down. Go figure!

They were not afraid at first, but something changed around 6 months and now as soon as they hear it they start crying. I have to plan when to vacuum now so they are out of the house... [IMG]

Up until about 5 months the vaccuum put the boys to sleep. From 6-11 months they were fascinated by it (always watching from their exersaucers). Now Nick is very frightened by it and cries (which means I don't get it done as much as I should). Joe has started looking scared also.

WHERE DOES EVERYONE PUT THEIR KIDS WHILE VACCUUMING?

A friend of the family had a crawler/cruiser who bit the vaccuum cord while her mom was running it. It shocked her and she is actually missing a chunk from her lip (she is now an adult). That story still freaks me out!

Jacob likes to chase it, Emma backs up as fast as she possibly can! She is petrified of it!

SweetpeaG...I usually vacuum upstairs while they are in their cribs. Downstairs is hardwood floors, and we have this little vacuum called a Swivel Sweeper(Love it!), it is a battery powered contraption. [IMG]

Nope, Drew runs and gets his toy Dyson and vacuums with me! Zoe isn't interested....kind of like me...vacuuming is usually my husband's job!

My DD is afraid of all loud noises . . . the blow dryer, Japanese steak houses, and even me in the shower. Well the last one I'm afraid of too!

Mine are the opposite of yours. Emilie will sit there and stare and Trevor will scream. I usually vacuum downstairs after they go to bed, that way I know they are in a deep sleep.

I can't say that I know if my guys are afraid of the vacuum. Guess that means that I don't do that chore enough huh? [IMG]

I can tell you though that I used an air pump to blow up an air mattress last week and the boys started screaming and wouldn't stop until about 15 minutes after I was done!!

This makes me think that they would be afraid of the vacuum...hmmm now I am curious...

Taylor is fine with it. Aidan cries and screams like he's going to be eaten by it. If I put him in a bouncy seat far enough away, he seems to be able to deal with it. I used to have him on the floor. I guess I could see how being eye level with that thing could be scary!

Mine both used to be so afraid...they would run to the other room crying. Now it is just DS...he starts crying when I even get it out, before it is even turned on. DD could care less, and just looks at it funny. I did notice since I got this new sweeper, (bagless) it seems to be louder, and maybe that is why he still runs away and crys. My DH usually runs the sweeper in the evening while I am bathing them, but lately I have to run it because he hasn't been home in the evenings. It is so sad...poor babies! I bought them a "play" dirt devil vaccum for christmas trying to get them to "accept" it a little better....DS took one look at it and bolted to the other end of the room. It was kinda funny...but then I had to cuddle him! [IMG] Mean Mommy!

Mine think the vacuum is the neatest thing. They follow me around, and I'm constantly scooting them out of my way. Cody will bang the cord on the ground and squeal and laugh the closer I get to him. Courtney tries to play "come get me!" with it. She'll crawl really fast, stop until it gets closer, squeal, then crawl again.

When they were young, Clayton hated loud noises. Grandma even scared him by making a bear sound. So, he hated the vacuum and Audrey was fascinated by it. Now it is a totally different story. Clayton loves it... will chase me down. Audrey will come find me too, but then she screams! She hates it. I find it amusing that she will seek me out to scream. It's hard vacuuming around here!

Mine don't seem to mind it too much, they just sit there and watch intently. Now Pedro the cat on the other hand, he hits the bricks when he sees it coming out of the closet! [IMG]

Thats the only way I can get them quiet! I run it when they are fussy and it soothes them.

Mine must like it - every time we run the vacuum they start fussing and just watch it with this dreamy expression on thier faces.

A couple months ago, they loved it. I made sure to dance, sing, jump up and down so that they would not fear it. Well a couple weeks ago, I went to vacuum and it was as if they were hearing if for the first time. They cried so hard. I guess now that they are older, they notice it more.

It sounds like everyone's babies are very different. My first DS hated it for a long time. In fact, just a couple months ago did he start to think that it was okay. Now he tries to "help."

TERRIFIED!! I guess some vacuums are louder than others? I have to have my dh take the girls upstairs when I need to vacuum. They finally got used to the little hand held dust buster we have. I notice though that my girls are afraid pretty much of ANY really loud noises. I'm sure they will outgrow it one day. (I hope?!!?)

Ha this is funny. DS is scared of the vaccum. He will run into his room and peek around the corner until I put it up.

When mine were younger, I would run it just to get them quiet. They'd stop crying while I vacuumed, then cry when I turned it off. [IMG] Now they still stay quiet and just watch with fascination. My oldest dd hated it though, and still jumps away from it whenever I turn it on, age 6! Funny how all kids are different.

Both of mine sit there and watch in amazement and then as soon as it is turned off, they ball! [IMG]

John was afraid of it til he 3.5...he called it the "Green Monster!"

Wesley is scared of it, and TERRIFIED of the blender. It makes it really inconvenient to either feed him or make sure the floor is clean enough to put him on it.

    Whatchagonnado.

Nope ... when they were colicky and would scream and scream I'd run the vacuum and it would calm them down, they'd just sit and watch.
