Are your twin babies jealous from each other?

I've noticed that my twins are very jealous from each other to the extend that one would ask for many extra bottle feeds because he sees me bottle feeding his brother, or one would start crying when he sees me cuddling his brother......with the understanding that both babies are getting the same attention from me and my DH.

Will this jealousy last forever or is it just temporary? And what's the remedy?

Thanks a lot for your replies.

I dont know if I would call it jealousy, but we had the same issue when they were a bit older and saw a bottle. I think its just that they know that a bottle=food and therefore they want it. I dont think it has anything to do with negative feelings, if that makes sense.

As for it lasting, it does in this house. They want the same things at the same time and for the most part they get it. We do take turns and they do have different interests but they always want what the other one has.

This made me laugh!! lately, Brandon will be fine, playing on his own with something or another. As soon as Connor picks up a toy, its like Brandon MUST have it. I was worried that maybe I just had a mean kid!! :p It seems so early for sibling rivalry!!

Jack is the same way. As soon as Nate starts playing with something, Jack is right there grabbing at it or climbing over his brother. It's like the grass is always greener for him....

They do say they can't have jealous feelings like adults do this early, but there is no denying that when I am holding one the other one just stares and eventually lets me have it with a scream if I don't share the mommy time. They are really noticing each other...it is kind of funny, and sometimes hard to deal with. It is exhausting but I will put my rocker next to the crib while I am feeding one so that I can feed her and have my hand on her sister - I also say their names a lot to each other to keep reiterating they have a sister and have to share. It is more for me than them at this point, but they do recognize their own names and their sister's name I think.

I do agree with other posters, that it is not jealously feelings as we know them but more like, "Hey, don't I get that too?" DH and I do the same Rachel, we tried to take turns and still do. Sometimes it's hard to remember who got what first the last time!

at 2 months old it's unlikely they're aware enough of each other to experience real jealousy. they're probably responding to the sight of nurturing and reacting as nature designed them to: to demand nurturing.

you won't see real jealousy until they start to understand larger concepts that they're incapable of comprehending now.
