Are you twins ?

I know this question starts from the time we first bring them out in public and will probably be asked forever. But my boys almost seemed annoyed by being asked almost to the point of being rude. Jayden (I can understand since he has social anxiety) just walks away and Jesse will give a quick "yes" or like last night, they were asked, "how come you two look exactly alike ??" Obviously the guy was trying to joke with them .. but Jesse was like "we're twins" in a "duh!" tone of voice followed by an awkward silence.

I, personally, never minded being asked if they were twins and it doesn't bother ME one bit .. but I guess my guys are going through a "here we go again with that same question" phase.
We'll have a talk about this before we leave the house today ... but I was curious if other twins are annoyed by being asked.

Mine like it currently. When they meet new kids they say "I am Lauren, that is Kyle and we are twins" every time. They are pretty shy so I think the use it as an ice breaker.

NO ONE asks my girls that. People are totally shocked to find it out. But they are about 18 lbs, 4 inches and even 3-4 shoe sizes different in size. They have totally different length and texture of hair. One is legally blind and wears dark glasses all the time. I think they'd love it if someone asked.

You know .. I think I'll tell them something like "you two should feel lucky that people ask you about being twins .. after all they are just curious. There are other twins out there that don't look like twins and would love to have someone ask them".

Since mine are a bit older, I thought I'd chime in on what mine do. First they don't look alike, and rarely act like sisters much less twins, so fewer people ask. When they do it really depends on their moods....(which I should add as we approach puberty/teenagehood change constantly). Some times they act as if the question is great and they will start chatting. Other times they roll their eyes, mumble yes we are twins, and walk away with a disgusted look on their faces. (I told you they were almost teenaged girls!)

Often people will ask who is older, not knowing they are twins, Holly answers "I am'. Then the question comes, what grade are you in, '5th', and you? '5th'.....oh....................

I'm guessing I'll be hearing some new and interesting answers as they get closer to being teenagers. Really it depends on how they feel about each other and having a sibling that just happens to be their twin. I have heard Holly say she has only one sister, when she is mad at Cassie. She was furious with her sister that day.

Wow on what I have to look forward to. Right now, we are teaching the babies that they are brothers. That's about all they can handle. I'm not sure when we are going to bring in the twin discussion.

My boys hated it when they were in this age range. Hated it. In fact, sometimes they'd said no! Now as teens they don't mind so much any more.

My girls are proud of it and will tell people. They are fraternal, but about a half pound and half inch apart. Their coloring is very similar and most people think they are identical on the first look.

My girls usually just answer yes (although, like Molly's girls, Brooke usually rolls her eyes) and then you can hear crickets chirping. They aren't always happy to talk to strangers, so a basic, quick answer is usually all it consists of.

My girls rarely if ever get asked that question they are over 3inch difference in height and I think over 5lbs in weight. One has brown hair and long, the other blond and short. So usually they think they are at least a year apart. When we went to back to school night for their grade (they are in third) one of their teachers didn't even know she was a twin because they never talk about it. They wear different cloths and have totally different personalities. When they do get asked they don't mind but like others it usually starts out what grade are you in or how old are you. When they answer the same then they get "oh twins" or "oh you are twins?". I am sure though mine don't mind answering that question since it's rare they ever get asked that, I am sure if they got asked it more often they would probably have more of an attitude about it.

Mine almost never get asked that, because Amy looks at least a year older. So I think they are psyched to be asked once in a while. Usually the subject only comes up if I make some reference to both of them being in kindergarten -- then people always say, "Wait -- they're twins??" But the girls are proud of it and think it's sort of cool. If one girl is introducing herself to someone, she will usually say "I'm [name] and that's my twin sister [name]."

Mine get asked frequently, but mostly assumed with them. They have always been within a pound of each other and 1 inch in height. So I think its just obvious. They don't offer the info but when asked how many siblings they have, I heard Kenna say yesterday, I have 1 sister and two brothers, then the person asked how old they were, and she said Josie is 11, Jack is 8 and Mitchell is my twin. I tell them how lucky and special they are to have a twin, it seems like they are quite proud of it. If we are out with my oldest she chimes in very quickly with "and they are twins".
When they were all younger we got stopped so many times with people wanting to ask about the twins. Josie was 5 at the time and I remember it had been one person stopping us after another and finally Josie said "Yes, they are twins, no they aren't identical"....funny how even the siblings realize other people's constant interest in them!

Oooh boy, then I'm in trouble because mine do this now!! Well, they don't roll their eyes, but they may as well sometimes with the way they answer.

For the most part, they answer the questions. But there are days that Emma is quick to pipe up and say they are twins whereas Lauren gets thoroughly annoyed. It's embarassing sometimes!!

We definitely get asked the question less and less as they are dressing in coordinating clothes now rather than matching. Mine are 2 pounds and 1 inch apart and sometimes people are shocked they are twins.

Mine are only seven but have some of the attitude. They have answered yes they are twins but one is six and one is eight....... or the other day they announced that they stopped being twins when V got glasses. They never looked alike and he got his glasses a year ago. Always interesting
