Are you taking a birthing class?

My husband and I are signed up for a one day birthing class. It's the "Oh, Baby!" program (I don't know if anyone else is familiar with this). I will be 32 weeks when we take it. The instructor thought that would be fine.

How far along will you be?

I called yesterday about birthing refresher classes. with twins they can come early. My hospital told me that I shouldn't wait too long. They told me to call at 6 months and sign up. I am also putting my older children in sibling classes about the same time.

We took a multiples birthing class through our local hospital! It was great! My husband actually got stuff out of the class admittently that he was curious about and was happy he learned! We took it later than they recommended but it fit our schedule and our babies were not born early. I'm thinking it was June when we took the class and we had the babies a month later. ALL of the other couples were not so far along.

We are taking a few different classes--breastfeeding is tonight and the actual childbirth one will finish by the time we're 29 weeks. It's getting into holiday time then so I figured we better be finished before all that excitement :)

The hospital's website recommended that the Marvelous Multiples class I took be taken in the second trimester. It wasn't scheduled often, so I ended up taking it at like 15 to 19 weeks. Which was okay, but I think I was the only one in the class that took it during the recommended time, everyone else was way further along than I was. But of the 5 ladies, 2 end up on bed rest before the class was over (which is why they recommend it earlier than the regular birthing class.) However, I wish I'd waited, because now at almost 29 weeks -- I can't remember ANYTHING. I've got the book -- but the hospital specific rules and procedures are things I need to go over again.

I'm taking mine at 26 weeks, and it lasts a few weeks (maybe 6?) My multiples class I'll be 30 weeks - which I think is late, but the only other time it was offered was way too early.

I never did take one. With DD1, I was on bedrest before I had a chance. With these two, it didn't make sense since we pretty much knew it was going to be a c/s, and I felt like "been there done that."

Good luck and have fun, though! Maybe you'll meet some moms to have future playdates with!

I started our class when I was about 23 weeks (it was once a week for 5 weeks), and wound up going on modified bedrest right after it ended. We had signed up for newborn-care classes starting at 30 weeks and my DH had to go by himself. (Which was probably good for him.)

However, if it's already too late to get into a class right away, don't worry about it and just hope you'll still be on your feet by then!

We took ours at 28/29 weeks (met for two weeks) -- I personally wouldn't want to do it any later for comfort reasons. Sitting in a chair for hours at a time when you're third-tri isn't very comfy! With our classes, we got a ton of information to take home, so I'd suggest taking it earlier if possible since you'll have the info to review later at home anyway. Most people in our class were in the 26-30 time frame, though one girl was 19 weeks.

I was supposed to start mine this week, but can't go because I'm on bedrest now. :(
