Are you still picking them up?

I've always heard everyone say not to pick up a child or anything that was heavier than 20lbs, but my OB has never advised me not to, and he knows the twins... and all about them, so wouldn't he have told me, if this was a concern?

I don't carry them around like I use to, but I do pick them up to place then in their seats, or pick them up to put them on the changing table, pick them up to put them in bed, etc. I don't pick them up at the same time though...

I've picked them up throughout the whole pregnancy. Mind you, mine only weigh a but over 20lbs each, but I regularly picked them up and carried them both until the belly just got way too big :)

I still do but not all the time. My girls are around 40 pounds each and they still want to be picked up. Most of the time I tell them that I shouldn't because of the baby and they're ok with it. My OB never told me not to pick them up. I had asked about it in my first trimester and I was told that there was no reason not to.

I'm only 20wks, but I still pick mine up and carry them all the time. I am working really hard at getting them to walk more, because I know that down the road, it will get harder.

My boys are 35 lbs and are just 2 so Im' picking them up a lot still and likely will be throughout the pregnancy. Really, I'm sure it's the heavy lifting of furniture and the like that's a concern. I find it hard to believe that women throughout the centuries had pregnancy emergencies from picking up their little ones. But, then again, I could be totally ignorant. never really thought of it.

I am trying to just hold hands and only pick them up when I'm sitting. The twins are just too big and heavy and I don't want them to still need to be carried when I've got a big belly too. They haven't seemed to mind so far....sometimes I have to sit on the stairs and scoot down with them as that seems to be the only time they really want to be carried. Otherwise, they can do most other things by themselves like get in the car, up in their chairs to eat, into the bath etc.

When I got to the 30 week mark, picking them up for extended periods began hurting my lower back, so I have started watching it...

I had a lot of bleeding issues in the first trimester...and wound up on modified bedrest...as a result I wasn't supposed to pick up the kids any more than absolutely necessary. So they had to climb the stairs by themselves and we moved them to big kid beds so I didn't have to pull them in and out of the cribs. Now that things are back to "normal" the kids still won't let me pick them up much. They constantly tell me that I'm not allowed to pick them up b/c I have a baby in my "belly"... My older dd is really strict about it...she yells at me when I go to pick up one of the twins! LOL. Otherwise I'd probably pick them up more...but not to the point of exhaustion... emma's pushing 35 lbs...Judah 30lbs and Avielle probably 27lbs...
