Are you getting a Flu shot?

My mother's Dr. told her that all people with children under 6 months of age need to get a Flu shot because the babies can't get one yet. I've never gotten a flu shot (frankly I'm kinda scared of needles) and the kids I've taken care of in the past never got one either. Maybe the flu is supposed to be worse this year. Of course if it's for my babies safety I will get one and so will everyone that takes care of them (DH already made an appt). Just wondering if any Doctors had given you this advise?

I always get the flu shot. My dh and I are both in the medical field and feel strongly about it. People can argue that it may only be effective against a percentage of the flu strains, but isn't that better than none?

One year my dh got one b/c he is in the military, but we didn't get them for myself and our 2 daughters. (I don't remember why.) The three of us girls were so very sick. We all were in bed for three days with horribles aches and pains, high fevers. My dd had such a high fever she was hallucinating.

Please check the statistics. It is worth the shot IMO!

No, I've never gotten a flu shot. I guess if I happened to already be at the doctor's office and they had flu shots I would get one but I'm not going to make a special trip to the doctor with 2 babies. I didn't get one last year when my girls were newborns and no one got the flu. I wasn't getting out of the house enough to get the flu last year, lol!

My boys were born in October last year, and I never got the flu shot, nor did DH. And, I am so going to jinx myself-but I've never had the flu-and I worked as a preschool teacher too!

I still haven't decided if my boys are going to get it or not. I suppose their pediatrician is going to recommend it.

My dh and I have never gotten the flu shot, neither have our kids (and we never will) Also anyone in our family that does decide to get a flu shot are not allowed to visit for 2 weeks afterwards.

We have always gotten the kids the flu shot since it is recommended by their Ped. DH and I always get one too-the Ped's office will actually give us one too. I wouldnt want to be the one to give it to them.

We will definetly get the flu shot but I would like to get the mercury free one for the boys. Also, Jack is allergic to eggs and they are grown in eggs so we will see what the Dr says about it for him!

The pedi recommended it for the boys this year. And since they are in daycare and we get enough crud as it is (who knew people got sick in the middle of the summer!?!?) we decided it was a good idea for them to get it. And if I was going to put them through it I didn't want to risk DH and I getting it and giving it to them either so I got one at Kroger while picking up a presecription for them and sent my husband one night after they went to bed. It took less than 5 minutes, and if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. But, if it does, all the better for everyone. Sick babies suck. It's so hard seeing them so miserable and not being able to do anything to make them better.

FWIW... Neither of us had ever had flu shots before.
