ugh. we have a wedding down in florida in early July (we are in northern ohio) and my husband REALLY wants to go. his parents are willing to go too to help watch the kids. we thought we would maybe just make a whole vacation of it- stay a week or so. we thought it might be easier packing-wise to drive (so we odn't have to rent anything- other than a place to stay!), though quicker flying.
are we crazy to drive down there? anyone else take a trip like taht with infants? i'm thinking it will be about 16 hrs. they will be 8.5 months by then. should we drive at night? i am just not convinced it will be worth it yet. but maybe it will... i just don't know! i'd love some input/advice/stories!
    ugh ugh ugh.....

My advice is to FLY! They will most likely be crawling or on the verge of crawling and will want no part of sitting in a carseat for 16 plus hours! Where in Florida?

What are you worried about packing? I have flown 3 times with my babies (10 weeks, 5 months and 9 months) and didn't have to bring much more than we normally do. The place you stay will have a pnp or two, you won't need many toys since you probably won't be hanging out inside alot. You can always rent booster/highchairs, though you may be eating out alot too. It is REAL easy to rent stuff, and they have pretty much anything you want.

I would say fly. I would rather endure 4 hours of H**L then 16!

You can pack just enough stuff to get you down there and then buy diapers, wipes, etc. when you get down there.

My vote is fly...I've done both with a singleton and that was hard enough...wouldn't drive that long with 2. By the way,

July in FL is harsh- anywhere...it is worse inland (ie Orlando) than on the coast (seabreeze helps) but it can be brutal and the sun is so hot I've known African Americans who got bad sunburns. Plan inside activities during the afternoon hours (even if you do the touristy thing there are indoor activities you can plan for afternoons)

    Do you want the truth?

Dont drive, it stinks big time! Fly, yes that will stink too but its better than having babies scream in the car and start to hate their car seats. We did a 2500 mile drive 4 months ago and were miserable! Now we are preping for an 1100 mile drive this week and Im not looking forward to it. Unfortunatly flying has not been an option for me since we are moving not visiting. So FLY

I also vote fly!!! I just took a trip that was supposed to take 7 hours that took 10 with the twins - mine are not quite
4 months old and it was a total nightmare!!! I can only imagine it will get worse the older more mobile they get!!
and now they really hate their carseats - everytime I put them in them they scream - it is almost like they think we are going to be in their seats for a very long trip again!! and we traveled at night - the only thing that did for us was make us very tired for 2 days afterwards - but I suppose it must have been better than it would have been if we had traveled during the day??!!
