As we transition to finger foods I'm trying to find quick, easy, HEALTHY, meals to make the girls. I like veggie burgers (just the standard garden burger, mostly mushrooms/brown rice/oats), the girls actually ate one today but I'm wondering if it's okay for them?

They only thing I noticed is they have a lot of salt (400mg) I tried to find the recommended salt intake for a 1 year old and one website said 350-950mg per day but I don't know if that's true.

do you think the gardenburgers are okay? What else makes a quick, healthy finger food meal? I've looked for whole wheat ravioli but I can't find any, don't they make them in whole wheat? I'm looking for frozen things that I can cook quick that might have veggies (like perogies/ravioli, etc...)

anyone have any must try for 1 year olds? TIA

I don't know what their salt intake is supposed to be but if they can have hamburgers I don't see why they couldn't have veggie burgers.

I can't think why they wouldn't be good for them, aside from the sodium content. Maybe consider making your own and then freezing them? One of the moms in my twins group does this and it sounds really easy if you have a food processor. Other frozen/quick finger foods my girls love: sweet potato fries (either home made or from the freezer section), meatballs (cut up of course), frozen veggies, toast with cream cheese (cut up), fresh or canned fruit (if canned, I rinse it before serving), cheese, pancakes.... Pretty much anything we eat, we cut up and give to them. :)

I make these black bean burgers and they are easy to make and yummy. I double batch and freeze some for easy meals. My kiddos love them. I like that you can control exactly what goes in to them.

We do black bean burgers, too - homemade. They are delicious!! I am sure that, beyond the sodium, a pre-made veggie burger would be just fine for them. :)

I have done veggie burgers since they turned one and they are one of their favorite foods to this day. I put a piece of american cheese on top. I dont have an answer to your question though!

Mine love veggie burgers also. We mostly use them because it's pretty much the only way they will eat veggies. Sadly I'm sure my two eat more sodium than they should, but they are picky eaters...

I like the Amy's California burgers -- but, they're nut-and-seed patties mostly, so they contain walnuts. My kiddos did fine with them, but check with your ped.

Other finger foods we do are chick peas, cubed cheddar or colby jack, whole-wheat penne tossed with a little olive oil and spices, meatballs, shredded chicken, etc.

Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? Their convenience foods are great, because they're relatively healthy and free of preservatives, trans fats and artificial stuff.

Mine love the garden burgers! I'm not worried about the salt... My monkeys eat very healthy.
We do a lot of fruit cups and fresh veggies.
