Are used bottles okay?

Is is okay to buy used bottles on ebay? Has anyone ever done this? I was looking into it and just wondered if it was a good idea or not. I know the bottles could be boiled and washed, but is that enough?

 

I don't see why not if they are sterilized. I haven't used bottles 2nd hand...but I did give my SIL all my old bottles and she hasn't had any problems with them. If you are uncomfortalbe...you could always purchase new nipples for cheap.

 

I think they would be ok as long as you sterilize them and buy new nipples for them.

 

I'm using used bottles. I have a friend with 2 sets of twins. so my tiwns are the 3rd set using the bottles. I bought new nipples, steralized the bottles before using them, and haven't had any problems.

She have me 18 Dr. Brown's bottles so she saved me well over $60.00.

 

I agree with everyone as long as you sterilize them they should be fine. I would purchase new nipples for them though.

 

Many of our bottles are hand-me-downs (though we had to buy a lot more because the people we got them from didn't have twins). I think there's no problem. We did buy new nipples (not really because I was worried about germs -- more because I didn't think they'd stand up to that many cycles in the dishwasher).

 

I agree with pp. I would definetly sterlize the bottles well and purchase new nipples!
