Up till now, our routine has been something like this:

    7:30 am wake up
    breakfast
    play, etc
    10:00-12:30 nap
    lunch
    play, etc
    2:30-4:30 nap

Give or take an hour, but pretty close to that. This week they've been sleeping in later, like even till 9:00 some days!! Felt like Heaven for me, that extra sleep. :) They go down for that 10:00 nap fine (although later if they slept in till 9). But then in the afternoon when 3:00 rolls around & they start getting cranky, I lay them in their cribs like normal & they just play! Giggling, shouting, throwing their baby dolls......for an hour, even! Till I finally get them up. Now, ds acts tired when I put him down & I'm kinda thinking that it's dd who's keeping him up. Today, dh was home & we went ahead and separated them for that nap, but she never fell asleep. She finally snuggled down with him to watch tv & fell asleep around 5:00. :(

    Any advice??

I would definitely switch to one nap at their age. You can put them to bed earlier at night too. It will take a few weeks to find the perfect time, how long after lunch, etc. but you'll like it better once you get used to it. It frees up your day a lot more!

We went to 1 nap at 17 months- it went fairly smoothly. They started going to bed at 7 instead of 8 and woke 1/2 hour earlier in the morning- but took a really good one nap from 10 to 1 or 1:30. It has been nice to be free from the afternoon nap- especially since I have an 8 year old to pick up from school at 3!!!
    take care and good luck

hi we transitioned to 1 nap at 15 mos - THe week we did it, I kept them very busy in the morning so that they would stay awake until 11:00a -- now they go down at 11:30a I feed lunch at 11a -- the hardest part when they transition is to get lunch in them early and then again when they wake up. If they don't eat, they won't sleep that long.

    Good luck

You could probably start eliminating the second nap, we did at 19 months because they would just play and never go to sleep and I didn't want it to run too close to bedtime.

Mine went to 1 nap at 8 months. WOW. They are now 16 months and awake at 7:30am, nap from 1:30 - 4:30pm, and bed time is 7:30pm sharp. Going to 1 nap was really very easy! They made the decision for me. Best of luck~

Probably not a bad idea. Extend that time between wake up and naptime. Mine fell during lunch for a long time at first. I would just give them a snack before nap and feed them afterwards!!

Good luck! :hug99: You can do partial changes too! Like if you really think they need two one day, just do it!! Non is set in stone!

Mine have been going back and forth with 2 to 1 naps and now they are on 1 nap. They go down at 1 and get up between 3-4 and go to bed at 7:30-8:00. They get up around 8-9. It was working until the house got his with illness and now everything has gone haywire.

My twins just recently dropped their afternoon naps. However they get a nap in the 9:30 to 12:30 and then it is lunch time for them.
