I think they might be but then I don't. I don't know. Right now we are having issues telling them apart (you would think this would clue me in to them being identical or not)but all my kids looked very much a like as babies.

here they are at 4 months

I would bet identical, but (and this is not to make it more confusing) Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are fraternal twins. The only way to really know is to do a genetic test. I am in the same boat you are with my girls. I think they look different most of the time, but other people think they are exactly the same.

SO CUTE!! I also say they are ID (Their EARS have the same shape with all their parts - which someone else told ME that is how they tell ID twins). I did the DNA test on my girls a month ago and they are ID!! Good luck!!

I do too...I still would love to see those DNA results!! Even though one is a bit taller, that could still be more because of environmental issues (one's growth was stunted by something)..

I am in the same boat with my 4 month old sons. They look exactly alike, every single part except the very top of their heads, one looks like he has temples. Their Dr thinks that the head difference could have been affected by something in utero. I asked their Dr about testing them but she wasn't sure if insurance would cover it and she wasn't sure how much it would cost. We have just started telling people that they are identical, I even have to paint one toe nail of Baby A for family to tell them apart....

Does anyone know about testing to see if they are identical?

You can do an at home test. I think it's about $100. THere's one mentioned on here a lot but I've never done one. My boys were mono-di so we know for sure ID (plus they look exactly alike). I'm assuming most of you who did the test had di-di twins? If there was only one placenta then they are ID for sure.

We just did it a month ago for our di/di girls. It was $99 with www.dnasolutions.com VERY EASY and super quick! I ordered online, the package was sent within 3 days...I did the dna scrubs on both girls (rubbing a q-tip looking thing on the inside of their cheek) and sent it back with their envelopes within a couple more days, stuck two stamps on it and the results were emailed to me in 5 days!!

Mine too. They do look a lot alike, but they also look very different to me, not totally identical and easy for me to tell them apart, especially if their eyes are open. My placenta was examined to try and determine the cause of some complications, so I'm pretty sure the mono/di diagnosis was no mistake, but I have my doubts sometimes. Maybe it is because one of our boys is almost a pound larger than the other. Here is a pic:

    Oh they are soooo cute!

I say identical. Generally, if you have to ask, they are. I only remember one case on here when someone didn't know, tested and they turned out being faternal.

But generally, I think twins look most alike around a year old. So you could always wait and see who they develop.

aawwww - so cute! :) I suck at this game, but I'd say ID if I had to guess. My boys are more and more alike as they get older...

I'd say identical, but I'm not feeling 100% strongly about it the way some op are. But either way, cute!

I say ID! Very cute too!!!!

I love these threads. Having frat twins I can't even imagine what it must be like to have two babies looking that much alike. One time I woke up in the morning when the babies were like 5-6 mos old and had changed them in the middle of the night. Both babies were wearing pink...I remember thinking...thank GOD they are b/g so I don't have to worry about getting them mixed up!

Definitely ID for all of these!

I agree, if you have any doubts and have to ask, or have any moments when you're a bit confused, they're definitely ID.

Thanks. Your little guys are adorable, and I think they look alike. It's funny that we as parents see the differences that others don't notice as much.

I see some differences but they look ALOT alike to me so probably identical. They say my girls are identical but I can tell them apart easily but they are still pretty young and there was pretty big difference in size between them at birth

I just posted recently about MK and Ashley saying they were "mirror" twins on the Ellen show. So this to me seems like they are admitting they are ID. :)

Ok FINALLY lol. That's been driving me nuts for some reason... I admit though that I often roll my eyes when I see pictures of totally identical twins and the parents claim that they are fraternal.

I do get it though, I have b/g and they both seem totally different to me, even though everyone tells me that they really look alike... but I believe them. I have an ID sister and my parents never once questioned that we were ID. When everyone is mixing your kids up, it's a pretty good sign.

I think that a lot of people who have didi twins are told by their Ob that the twins are fraternal and they never question it. I've had more than one medical professional insist that didi twins cannot be identical, but I know otherwise.

As for OP's pic, I would say identical, but could get a better idea if the pic was bigger. Each feature (eyes, nose, mouth and ears) look the same to me :)
