is 6 oz of formula/BM every 3 hours (5 bottles a day) enough oz.?
they get two solid meals and have been fussing about 45 mins before their scheduled feeding and i was thinking maybe i wasn't feeding them enough?

also, how much solid food do you give them?
i make my own baby food and have been splitting 3 ice cube sized meals between the two of them. is that enough?

Are they happy after they eat? Do they cry when they are done? Have you tried an extra oz in their bottles or an extra cube of food?

Babies are very good at letting you know when they are full. If you try an extra oz, and they drain it consistently for a whole day, then maybe they do need that extra little bit. If you try another cube of food, and they slow down/turn their head away before they are done it, then they don't need it :)

6 months is a prime time for a big growth spurt. Mine started taking 35-40 oz of formula a day around that time, which is when I started giving them more solids to try to help keep their stomach fuller. Once they passed that growth spurt they went back to 30-32 oz of formula a day, and were eating 2 meals of 2 jars of stage 2 food each meal (they each had 1 full jar per meal).

they are still a little fussy after their bottle; i attribute it to still wanting to 'suck?' i have no clue, lol.
when i feed them the 3 cubes, they don't turn their heads away when they're done. i'm just thawing out 3 cubes bc i have no clue how many cubes i should be giving them. i do have *some* jars of food; i will try an entire jar a their breakfast feeding tomorrow. i do fruit in the am and a veggie in the pm. i will try an extra oz in their next bottle and see if they drink it. my one LO will eat or drink anything i give him, lol. he will even finish his brother's bottle if he doesn't finish his!

any idea how many cubs is equivalent to a 2oz jar?

When you thaw a cube, use a tablespoon to measure it. Two tablespoons equals one ounce. If I remember correctly, at 6 months my babies were taking about 35-38 ounces of formula a day and splitting two or three 4 oz. jars of food a day. So they were each getting anywhere from 4-6 ounces of solids daily on top of their formula. I agree with the pp - babies will definitely let you know when they are full so just keep trying a little more for a few days and see what happens.

If they are fussing then definitely try another oz. If it's just a need to suck, a paci should calm them down (sometimes mine would take their paci for just a few mins and then not need it anymore), but usually fussing means they are still hungry. Mine were taking 6-8oz each bottle feeding, but I have very big eaters :)

As for how many cubes, I have no clue, but the pp had a good suggestion of measuring it. I would just try thawing 4 cubes their next feeding and see if they eat it all. A stage 2 jar of food is 4oz, so mine were eating 4oz per feeding, twice a day. At 7 months I switched to stage 3 foods, I transitioned by giving them one jar of stage 3 (6oz) and one jar of stage 2 (4oz) each feeding (this is for the 2 of them, not each). Then when they started finishing that, moved to two jars of stage 3 each meal. They now each 1-2 baby mum mum's, 2 jars of stage 3 foods, and puffs, crunchies, yogurt melts or something similar, plus an oz or so of watered down juice for each meal :)

when do i bump them up to another meal?
i will thaw an additional cube tonight so that there is 4 instead of 3 and do the same for breakfast. i think they can eat more than 3. my DH is always afraid we are overfeeding them.

Right now it's more important for them to have more formula rather than more solids. Up the formula first then if they are still eating all their solids, add another meal in. We didn't start oatmeal (our first solid) until 6 months so it's more what they need than a specific age or weight.
