are there cheaper options than the PBK chair?

I know Joel would LOVE a little chair-- he still manages to squeeze into his bumbo, and loves sitting in cubbies, stuff like that. But I don't know that I can justify spending that much on two chairs (because even though I don't think Bryan will enjoy a chair as much as Joel, if we only get one, WW3 will break lose, but y'all know that!) I thought I remember seeing some in Target's Christmas ads last year for around $35, but they were too young for them then, and now I can't find any. So are there other options?? I thought about actual bean bag chairs, but I don't think that's what I want.

    Thanks!

    Marissa,

I'm actually going to attempt to sew the girls chairs for their bdays this year from this pattern: McCall's Pattern

I've been scoping out denim/corduroy to make it all one color.

Have you looked on ebay? They had the inserts and slipcovers for about half the price when I was looking last year.

This is still kind of pricey, but a bit cheaper than PBK and I think the product is much nicer:

I bought two last Christmas. The chairs are $50 each (on sale, but they seem to be permanently "on sale") and shipping for two chairs was an additional $50, so $150 for both. She also gave me a 10% twin discount, though I don't know if that's a regular thing or she just felt like being generous that week. :)

I got the sense that there is really just one lady who runs it, and she orders the chairs from a manufacturer whenever someone orders one. So they did take awhile (like 3-4 weeks) to arrive, but we've been very happy with the quality. They are solid wood (unlike the PBK chairs which are foam) -- that was a plus in my book, although I know some people prefer the foam. They're still quite light for an adult to lift, though too heavy for the kids to drag around.

Oh wow. I"m doing good to sew on buttons, so that's out for me!!

oh yeah!! EBAY! Great idea!!!!!!!!! :good:

Alden- those are cute chairs! So they're heavy enough that they can't be thrown at a sibling? That's my big problem right now. We have some cute basic wooden chairs that I've had to banish for the time being.

I think Target carries something similar.

I had been looking for the same thing but decided to wait till next year at birthday/christmas time. I did find these chairs on Amazon but the ones that Minette posted are so much cuter. Land of Nod also had some that matched some of the nursery bedding and were cheaper than PBK.

I was also considering buying the PBK inserts on ebay then just ordering the slipcovers with their names on them from PBK. It was a little cheaper that way.

I can't swear to it -- I don't think my girls have ever tried that. :D But I think they probably are too bulky. The girls can drag them around (which we discourage b/c we have hardwood floors), but they can't wrap their arms around the chairs to pick them up.

Me and my GF split the cost (her gift to them for 1st birthday) with me... Would anyone consider this? I am a VERY frugal person but this is one thing that i am happy we spent money on. They love them and they have a ball playing on them. Each one knows who chair is whos so i dont get alot of fighting over them. ;) Alot of money but so worth it....

Try Lillian Veron, they have cute things sometimes... Or Miles Kimball?

A friend just got two chairs from Big Lots. I have never been there, but she sent pics and they look just like the PBK chairs.

I got two chairs from target over the summer. The girls LOVE them and they were only about $30 each. I don't see them on the target website, but they might have something in the stores.
