    Hi everyone,

My girls are 6.5 months old. They weighed 18lbs 6oz. and 16lbs. 8oz. at their 6 month appointments. People are always commenting about how big they are and how big their cheeks are. I am worried I am feeding them too much. Here is what they eat:

7:30am - 4 tablespoons rice cereal and 7oz. bottle each
    11:30am - 4 tablespoons veggies and 6oz. bottle each
    3pm - 4 tablespoons veggies and 6oz. bottle each
    6:15pm - 6oz. bottle each

I am going through all of the veggies before I introduce fruit.

Also, not long ago, somebody posted a link to a guide to how much baby's should be eating at different ages - I think it was from Babycenter....if someone still has it could you please post it?

    Thanks,

    Aira

Here is the link to the guide. I think what you are doing sounds fine, as long as they aren't spitting up a ton, I would stick with it. It doesn't sound excessive to me at all! After 6 months they tend to stretch out in length, more than they gain in weight.

I'm nursing, but I'm also giving solid food...
    Here's my schedule....(my girls weigh 14 lbs 9 oz and 14 lbs 12 oz)

    6:30 nurse/2 tbs of oatmeal

    10:00 nurse

    1:30 nurse/ level 1 fruit

    5:00 nurse/level 1 veggie

then I nurse them before bed

(We are working toward a 4 hr schedule...right now we are every 3 1/2 hrs. )

My dds were almost the exact same weights at their 6 mo appt. Let me just say this...I used to have a really hard time dealing with the fact that one of my dds was big and chunky. Not only was she 2 lbs heavier than her sister but she was and inch and a half shorter so she just looked like such a butter ball. I was really really upset about it and people would always make comments (not intending to be mean) about how chunky she was and how she must be eating ALL of the food. I was sure that I was over feeding her and I was convinced that I was going to have an obese toddler and child because of it. I eventually realized that my obsession about her weight was really my own issues with weight. I did some research (and spoke with the ped, and posted a question about it here) and found out that you can't really overfeed a baby. Until about the age of 4, babies/kids KNOW when they are full and unlike many adults, WILL stop when they are full. They will not push themselves to shove a little bit more in cause it taste so good. Now, I absolutely LOVE her chunkiness!! It is quite cute but from what people tell me, once they start crawling and walking, much of the weight will even out. The first year is a huge growth time for them and then for the second year, supposedly, it slows down a lot yet they become more active so it will just stretch out. As long as you keep them on a healthy regiment of food then you probably have no worries. HTH

That is pretty close to what my babies got at 6 months and are still getting now. Except mine usually have another bottle. They drink 6oz at a time:7:30, 10:30, 1:30, 4:30, 6:30. They have solids 3x per day (about 2 to 3 tbsp total 3 x day). DD doesn't usually finish her bottles, but DS can't get enough! At 6 months, they weighed 14lb (DD) and 15lb12oz (DS)

Lol Jack was eating about twice as much as that when he was 6 months!! There was a baby born at full term (8lbs Jack was 4.5lbs) the week before my two and now at nearly 9 months Jack weighs more than 2 lbs bigger than him. So i wouldnt worry about how much they weigh as long they arnt getting sick with what you are feeding them. They will start to even out when they start to move around. x
