I get the boys haircut (at least I try) about once a month. EVERYTIME I go they scream thier heads off. I try doing it with the buzzers here, but they scream with me too. At least the hairdresser can do it when I hold them down. Today was pretty successful...now that its warm out, I got them buzzed, so it was quicker are FAR less painful. The scissors are just too hard since they squirm so much.

When does this get better?? it took me forever to calm them down.

I am curious as well. I try to cut Hyrum's hair and it is so hard for him to sit still. Not to mention, I am still learning how to do it.

Nope. I brought them to the barber and they do well. Josh sits still almost scared. But Zach is more animated and tries to eat his hair LOL

At my house this is a boy problem. I went through it with Reece & am now currently involved with Garrett. Gillian sits in the chair like a princess!!

I think, I remember Reece starting to get over this between 3 & 4 years old.

The last time I got the boys' haircut it was a nightmare. Spencer has so much hair and is in desperate need of a haircut but I have been putting it off for that very reason. I've been thinking of tryin to do it myself but I don't want to massively screw it up.

We use a buzzer and both boys love it, they actually think it's pretty funny. We just cut their hair on Saturday and when I took Caleb out of the seat after he was done, Connor was trying to climb up - ready for his turn!!

Yeah I have done it here sometimes, and occasionally I can keep them busy if they are watching Dora or something...but lately its been hard. I keep convincing myself they will get used to it and they will realize it does not hurt..BUT NOPE!! Today they SCREAMED and yelled until we were out the door, and as soon as it started, it stopped with us leaving.

Sigh. The daily struggles with boys!

Dylan usually ALWAYS screams like he is getting killed when he gets a haircut but this past Sunday I had DH take him and he sat in the chair by himself and didnt cry at all!!! DH has a new task!

So I just think it take time. I was seriously thinking of buying a haircut kit but was so scared as to what it would look like.

    Good Luck!

Buying the buzzers and using them is fairly easy and very hard to mess up. I suck at cutting hair, and I can use them...its just getting them to sit!

Mine do pretty well. We go to Cool Cuts for Kids where they can watch a video while getting their hair cut and sit in these little Fire Truck cars. Usually they are more interested in the video than what the lady is doing to their hair!

My little guy isn't interested in having his hair cut either but I've been sitting in the chair and having him straddle me so he mostly sees me. I tell them not to bother with a cape and he's done better each time. I think he usually focuses on someone else nearby and what they're having done. His sister usually sits quietly in the next chair and waits. The last cut involved a bit of buzzer trimming but so far we've done mostly scissor cuts.

YES!! We've only been once (and it was a kid place). The one I thought would go nuts, did really good until she brought out the clippers to trim around his ears. Then he freaked out! The other one wouldn't even sit in the kiddy chairs. He sat on my lap and kept turning his head side to side, so she barely got any cut. (I fixed it at home) Since then, I have tried to trim around their ears and a little in the back but not much luck. I don't know what I'm doing but I know they won't sit still if I take them someplace.
Ian has a head full of dark curls that I really don't want to part with, but I figure he it would be much cooler for him and easier for me this summer. If you buzz your kids hair, what setting did/do you use, or do you just do it w/o any attachment??
    Happy cutting or buzzing!
