Okay, we found out that we having ID girls, but we've found that they are already suffering from TTTS. There is a 26% size variance. They did an amniotic reduction today, and took off a liter of fluid of the bigger of the two babies and I go back on Tuesday to check on it.

    hugs

    Hi Jen,

That is exciting to know that you are carrying twin girls. I will be thinking of you and praying for you as you go through the TTTS with the girls. Many mommies on here have been through it and have had successful deliveries. Big Hugs! Let us know how things go on Tues.

    Love,

    Bridget :hug99:

    congrats for ID girls!

I'm sorry about the TTTS. Our twins suffered, too, but we didn't know for sure it was tTTs until after the fact. We hung in there till 35 weeks and they were tiny, but very healthy as you can see!

    Keep the faith!

    Jen,

Congratulations on the girls!! have you checked out the TTTS foundation web page yet? We havn 't had to deal with it with the boys, but I did a lot of research since they are ID as well. The founder Mary will get you a packet of information, and their boards are fully of ladies (and some dads) with a wealth of information and support.

Thanks ladies!!! I know it's such a good thing that I have doctor's that aren't playing around. I know that babies survive this all the time but I also know that some don't. I'm hoping that we are one of the lucky ones, this time around.

    hugs

    Congrats on the little girls!

Our are ID too. We also have some TTTS. However, it appears that our case might be mild. We also have a two vessel cord and a velamentous (into the membrane) cord insertion. At our appt yesterday, our size dicordance was down to 10%. It has previously been in the 20% range.

I'm glad they are keeping an eye on it. Did your doctor mention the possibility of the laser ablation surgery? That may be an option for you. In our case, we never qualified because although our donor baby has little to no fluid, the recipient had normal fluid (not excessive). It sounds like your recipient had excessive fluid, which is better after the amnio now, right?

Definitely get on the TTTS foundation website - there are some good message boards there where people really know their stuff. We go for weekly u/s. They check the growth every two weeks. Every time, we check fluid levels, presence of stomach, bladder, and gall bladder. They also do dopplers. Many TTTS cases show abnormal dopplers (including ours - we had absent end diastolic flow at one time - about 18 weeks, actually). Also, they'll check for hydrops, and an enlarged heart in the recipient. For many people the repeated amnios really help. Before you know it, you'll know exactly what you're seeing at the ultrasound.

I'm glad they're watching you closely, things can turn for the better or worse very quickly. We got a size discrepancy at 16 weeks, saw the peri at 18 weeks, and we couldn't find a membrane at all, which means it was "shrink-wrapped" against our donor. I put myself on immediate pretty strict bedrest. I drink 3 Boost high protein drinks a day slowly. I drink a lot of water. Within two weeks, our fluid levels were normal and we've been holding steady ever since. Do NOT underestimate the power of bedrest and Boost drinks. Even our peri is surprised.

PM me anytime - I have the info for the drs that do the laser surgery if you want to contact them - they're great.

Welcome to the roller coaster of TTTS! You are not alone!

:hug99: I was just reading /replying to your PM and then I came to look for an update after your u/s. I'm sorry you're facing this scare! I'm really relieved to hear that your doctors are on the ball and treating your girls right away! I hope that brings you a share of reassurance, too. I'm sure the wait until Tuesday is going to feel long, but hopefully the hussle and bussle of the new school year beginning will keep your thoughts occupied a bit.

Most importantly...CONGRATULATIONS on your two baby girlies in there!

I'm thinking of you and wishing you the very very best, as always :hug99:
