appt today...24wks

We had our u/s today, and measured my cervix for a baseline for the first time, plus we got the weight of the babies.

my cervix was about 3.2 is this good??
boys weighed Baby A: 1lb 10oz and Baby B: 1lb 8oz
baby A is measuring in most areas almost 27wks and Baby B is measuring in most areas about 25-26wks (except femur which is 23wks4days-is this ok?)

for 23wks 6 days, this is pretty good right?
I've gained 19lbs and feel huge already...oh boy! I'm tall so I think that helps (5'11").

Dr. also wants me to have epi right away so as to avoid having to use general anesthesia in an emergency...any thoughts?

Sorry for the ramble...just seemed like a productive appt today, and wanted to make sure this is all good!

Wow that's great. I know our doctor's office doesn't use the program on the ultrasound machine because they have a very wide range ( 4 weeks or so) they have another separate program that they use. I think they take all the measurements into consideration when giving you the weeks so I would think if they were worried they would have said something.

 

It sounds like you had a great appt. Im sure if the Dr was concerned about any of the measurements he/she would have said something about it. Keep up the good work Momma!!

 

YAY! You're appointment sounds great! I had mine today (also 23 weeks 6 days) and baby boy was 1 lb 8 oz and baby girl was 1 lb 6 oz and he was very very happy with these weights. He didn't give me what week they were measuring though. Just very happy with their progress. My cervical length hasn't budged. It's still at 5cm which he thinks is amazing even for a singleton pregnancy. Considering I had preterm labor with my son we're all amazed. I am not sure what length they start worrying but I thought he said 2-3?? So I think 3.2 is still good. I've gained WAY more than 19 lbs. LOL Closer to 30-35! YIKES! I'm not sure if my Doc would want me on the epi right away or not. It makes sense but I'd like to try to labor a bit on my own before I "hook up". LOL Maybe when contractions start getting close I can see about a walking epidural?? Good luck and hope you get more answers

Not sure about the epi. I know that my labor went so fast they didn't have a chance to put the epi in. I ended up being completely knocked out ~ at the time that's what I asked for. Sounds like your doctor is trying to be proactive ~ to me that's a good thing
