Hey everyone, I am 24 weeks pregnant and see my high risk and my OB once a month. I know that once you get closer they become more frequent. When do they become more frequent? I will be seeing both doctors week 25, next week. I am anxious because I haven't seen the babies in a couple of weeks and I want to make sure all is well.
    Thanks a lot :)

Ever since my OB found out I was having twins she had me coming in every other week to check heartbeats via ultrasound. Starting around 15 weeks I started seeing the perinatologist for monthly growth scans. I'm currently 20 weeks as of today (yay!) and have been told that as long as the babies are still doing great and my OB doesn't see any issues when she checks heartbeats on the ultrasounds then we'll continue to do growth scans once a month.

It really depends on your OB and what type of twin pg you're having. My boys were mono/di and my OB referred me to a peri as soon as we found that out. I had biweekly u/s with them to monitor for TTTS and my OB did an u/s at every visit to check heartbeats (she didn't rely on the doppler for that.) I had an uneventful, complication free pregnancy but still have a photo album full of u/s pictures! I think it's important that you're comfortable with your care and monitoring. Some OB's are more conservative than others (mine was) and I was very comfortable with that. Good luck and congratulations on your twins!!

I was on a bi-weekly schedule until week 16 due to a subchorionic hematoma. At 16 weeks, my doctor said everything was looking great and I was cleared to come back once per month, which we will do until week 28 when we are back to bi-weekly. At some point after that, we will be weekly, then twice weekly.

We did bi-weekly until 16 weeks (I had a cerclage placed at 14 weeks, but otherwise it would have been biweekly through 12 weeks) and then monthly until 20 weeks. We're now on biweekly again (so we only had 1 appt that was a month apart). They do a u/s and checkup at every appt. My last twin pg they did monthly after 11 weeks through 28 weeks, then biweekly. This time they are keeping a really close eye on me due to issues with PTL and IC (which is why I needed the cerclage). So far everything looks great, but they want to make sure everything stays looking good.

I'm doing shared care with my GP and an OB.

I saw my OB at 20 weeks, and saw my GP every 4 weeks until 28 weeks. I'm now on biweekly visits until 32 weeks, and they will then become weekly.

I had growth ultrasounds at 21, 25 and 29 weeks, and will start having biophysical profiles every 2 weeks from 32 weeks on. I will then see my OB again at 34 weeks.

    Hi -

By the way, welcome! I forgot to mention that when I was answering the MoMo, MoDi, DiDi question. :)

I saw my OB biweekly from Weeks 6 through 28, at which point I switched to weekly. I will be 32 weeks tomorrow.

I have seen my peri approximately every 4-6 weeks. I have not had any complications and am not sure what my peri schedule will be through the remainder of the pregnancy. We will discuss when I visit him on Wednesday.

I agree with the PP that it depends on your physicians, the twin gestation type and your health status through the pregnancy.

I only saw an MFM doctor during this pregnancy. I went in once a month until about 24 weeks, then bi-weekly until about 32 weeks, and now weekly. But I've had a very uncomplicated pregnancy - in fact I think this is the same schedule I followed for my singleton.

My boys were mono/di and I only saw a regular OB for u/s every 4-7wks depending on when they could get me in. Very very casual care around here but thankfully I had no problems! every doctor and city is different!
