I feel silly asking this since my last pregnancy ended not even a year ago but typically what week do appointments start becoming more frequent? Right now I am going every three weeks for u/s and O.B. appt which I know is more frequent already than with a singleton. I have the three wk appts. scheduled thru April 23 which will put me at 28wks. Should I expect them to be every two weeks after that? What has your experience been?

    TIA!

I have already been going every 2 weeks since about 22 weeks.. and I was told that at 32 weeks it would be weekly checkups, unless something came up that required more attention sooner. I have figured out that they don't change the magazines in the waiting room every 2 weeks, so make sure you bring a book ;)

This is my first post! I am currently 30 weeks 2 days. I was going monthly until week 28, when I had some preterm labor. Since then I have been going to the doctor every week.

I go to the DR. every 2 weeks and every 4 weeks to get an U/S.

I think maybe because I am so high risk. I think that if you are going every so often it is a good sign that you are having a healthy pregnancy.

    All wishes and Blessing!!!

I had monthly appointments up until my 28th week. Then I do routine visits during weeks 30, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37. My OB is preparing me for a c/s right around 37 wks, unless, of course, there is a medical reason to do it earlier.

I just had my 28wk appt today which was the last of my monthly appts. Now I'm on the every other week plan for the next month and then every week - unless they feel I need closer monitoring. I will say that my pregnancy has been blissfully uneventful and all of my stats are looking good. I think that plays a major role in the timing of your appts, as does your doctor's standard protocol.

I had one OB appointment monthly until 28 weeks, then it was biweekly until 32 and then it was weekly. :good: The u/s's were always once every four weeks.

For my OB, he started me on monthly appointments at 30 weeks. Normally it would have started at 28 weeks but he let it go one more time because my MFM appts were in between my OB appointments so I was basically being seen bimonthly as is. I'm still on biweekly appointments and will discuss induction date at my next appt (35 weeks).

For MFM, I've been on weekly BPPs starting at 32 weeks with growth scans every 4 weeks.

Thanks ladies for all your input. I will have to see if they get more frequent after my April 23rd appt., I certainly wouldn't mind seeing my little bugs on screen every two weeks!! :D

Also, Akrontwins...wanted to say WELCOME and CONGRATS on your twins. I am glad you posted.

    Take care all!

This is a frustrating point for me as well- at 14 weeks I had to switch Doctors! The Indian clinic I delivered first son at no longer can take high risk. So, after finding out at our 12 week ultrasound we're having twins I had to switch everything to private doctors (a huge first time for our family- and luckily we had insurance). However, the change up has left me with 3 ob appts, and 1 ultrasound appt. Now I gotta wait a week from today for an ultrasound and then they want to see me every two weeks at new Dr's ofc.

Tia, I feel like if I went in more in the beginning and NOW I would feel better. I'd be more at peace. It's probably a prefernce thing with Drs but my BF had twins and she was always at the DRs!!! I'm so jealous!! and I really believe it would of helped me with the intensity of my first months being so sick.

I think I'm gonna start using my raging hormones to start knocking on some doors, and then kicking them in!!!!

Good LUck, keep going, it'll be here before we know it!!!

I am 27 weeks with mono/di girls. I started weekly visits with my MFM group because of very frequent contractions. They would like to keep an eye on my cervix i guess to make sure it is not open. I am getting a level II u/s every 3 wks now for growth.

I'm only 22 weeks and my DR has already started me on weekly appts starting tomorrow. Every other week I go in for an u/s with a growth check every 4th week and a cervical check every other week. On the "off" weeks I have a regular DR appt.

I haven't had any complications so I'm not sure why my DR has me going so often already....but I trust him and would almost rather go more often.
