FINALLY! After being seen by 1 back in August, and being told that I need to find an OB with connections to the hospital that brings in perinatologists to my area - I finally demanded one - and today is the day I go to see one! They better be good, is all I have to say. If they don't see my babies and do a color cord doppler flow I'm going to be so pissed off. All I want to know is if they share any connections in the placenta at all. To read that dr. de lai doesn't believe that ID twins should be DAYS apart or different in weights - shows me that this could be a warning sign and I just want to make sure that it isn't that. They are both totally active and I do kick counts (which is easy for me because they stay on their sides and I do body movements as well). They have a routine down now (amazingly down at night and up in the day).

And I hope to find out today or tomorrow at my OB appointment (which I have a growth U/S... I am not sure if this appointment will change it though) what their weights are, if Samantha is still behind and getting futher behind or not. I don't like the idea that she was 2 oz behind and last month she became 3. I know ounces aren't much - compared with lbs, but those ounces add up to lbs.

And I think I finally got the babies to turn last night. My belly looks totally different, and looked that way right after doing 40 pelvic rocks. They have been breech for so long that I definitely feel a difference and see a difference in my belly shape since doing it. I'm going to keep on doing them every night to make sure they stay down. I hope the U/S confirms that as well. I have been wrong before, but my belly hasn't changed shape like this before....

    Hope it goes well today.

So you can get the babies to change how they are laying by moving? Can you explain what you did and how it works?

I am glad you demanded the care you need. It's a shame anyone has to fight for it. I wish I'd followed my intuition and switched OBs during my pregnancy. It's always something. I hope you like your peri; mine was probably the best dr. I have ever encountered which was a nice surprise. Good luck & keep us posted!

I'm glad you'll get to see the peri, but I'm wondering why a doppler test would show any connection in placenta?
Due to my girls IUGR/TTTS we had doppler studies about every 2 weeks at the end there, but there was no talk about the placenta relationship. In fact, we didn't even know for sure if it was TTTS until the tests after delivery confirmed it. The dopplers just let us know what the blood flow was like, the pressure etc that they were receiving.

Anyway, good luck and let us know how it goes!

It can show many things, like in the bladder - it can actually show around it, how many connections their cords have. Earlier in the pregnancy, they aslo watched the cord flows into the placenta - it was amazing. But this time, because they are so big - they had to go with what they could see in the bladders and so far, nothing has changed and everything is wonderful. I'm surprised you only had those done every 2 weeks. I know the TTTSFoundation recommends weekly monitoring... but from what I've read so far, it doesn't say specifically how. I wasn't diagnosed and had 2x month u/s. Now that I'm in my 3rd trimester I'm getting weekly NSTs and at my perinatologist appointment yesterday she said that I needed 2x a week NST or 1x week biophysical profile until they are born. She also was trying to find the cord insertions into the placenta but they weren't cooperating..

Their hearts look amazing and we could rule out no cleft lip in one of them, the other one was facing my back. Her heart was also harder to see because you had the spine in the way. I got so many pictures, I really wasn't expecting any. I just wanted to make sure they were fine.

She did ask me one question that floored me and still is (I keep on asking my mom -who was there- if she really asked me it: Why haven't I seen a perinatologist sooner, since the 1st one I saw?

I had to explain to her all that happened and what led me to see the 1st one, and then how I thought that my OB was setting it up and eventually I got complacent and forgot. How I kept on asking about things, but didn't get the cooperation nor information I was looking for - so then I remembered the perinatologist and demanded one. How she got offended but agreed to let me have this - how it gave her some new info on when to deliver - and that's why I just now was being seen by another one. I'm not sure if they are going to see me at the hospital here or if that's it. But I'm so close to the home stretch, and with the extra monitoring that should suffice. I am totally not against seeing her again though - she was so awesome, reassuring of my self-worth and the importance of my advocating for my babies, not ignoring things that I feel are important and any thing I may feel is off with me or the babies. I wish I could have taken her home with me, she was so great!
Then I had my OB appointment today and it was another great visit. She's working with me now and acting like I'm a real member of this team instead of someone in her way, offending her and questioning her education. She hasn't got the information from the perinatologist yet (who actually requested the information from the 1st perinatologist as well so it may take a week or more. I'm hoping 1 week because I dont' want to be the one to tell her to up my monitoring - I want someone who she'll believe to do it) so she almost gave me another ultrasound (I almost didn't say anything. lol). Instead it turned out to be a quick one to find their hearts (and one was practicing breathing - so cute!) for the NST test. She's even looking at her calander and scheduling my c-section. (babies are still breech and show no signs that they want to turn... 2 more weeks and there is no more hope for avoiding the c-section). She also said that before 34 weeks they'll stop labor if it starts, but after that they won't. I'm so close it's freaking me and my family out. We have so much to do still!!!
anyways. that's it for now, thanks so much for all your encouraging and mommy-validating words.

Diana: pelvic rocks are 1 thing you can do - (on your hands and knees, keep your back flat and drop pelvis and raise it back to flat position. Working up to 40 times twice.) they did turn but then turned on me during the car ride (they've always done that) and are now actually sitting lower than they were before. I'm going to keep on trying - but I really don't think they'll stick.... http://www.spinningbabies.com/ talks more about what you can do, even for twins. I'm going to start to see a chiropractor tomorrow who works with ligaments... I wish I had been doing this sooner as 2 weeks just may not be long enough - yet they always find room to turn back - so maybe there is hope. I wish I could get the babymapping done, that looks soooo cool!
