This is killing me. My 6 month olds wake up anywhere between 4am and 6am. I feed them and they go back in their cribs but I wish they would sleep later. My DD used to sleep from 6:30 to 6:30 and is now waking up at 4:30 instead. My son always woke up between 4 and 5 and now he's been sleeping later. It is hard to keep to a schedule because they wake up so early and never at the same time. How do you handle it? Any advice? I normally can get them caught up and on the same feeding schedule by lunch but it is really annoying. Thanks!

Oh yes... we went through that stage too. No advice here either... it stinks when they get up so early. I did like you're doing, feed them and then put them right back down to sleep. That usually worked, if not, they had really really early naps!

yes and this is what we do. According to HSHHC, if they wake up anytime before 6am....an we took this to mean anywhere from 3am-5:50 am, don't go into the room....just let them CIO and they will go back to sleep. SO...for the past 4 nights we have done this and it only took three nights of some crying and this morning they woke around 4am, and I could hear then 'talking' to each other and then they fell back asleep and when I went to get them at 6am they were both calmly awake in the cribs.
Not sure if this makes sense but it's working for us at least.

Ah yes, we went through that too for months. The lovely 5am wake up call. For us, I think they just need to mature. They were waking because they were hungry. You can try getting them down a bit earlier for bed and see if that works. It sounds counterintuitive but some say they need more sleep so by getting them to bed earlier they will learn to sleep later. That did not work for us and they just outgrew it! :hug99:

Thanks ladies. This has basically been since they were born! My DS finally slept until 6:30 the other day and my daughter woke up at 4:30! They switched roles on me! I can't put them to bed any earlier. They go down between 6-7pm. When I work, I don't get home until 5:40. Not sure if I want to CIO yet. They drink 7oz when they wake up.

Mine are both waking up at 4ish right now also. Then they go back to sleep, but only until about 6am. It's not because they are hungry or anything, they just don't want to be in bed anymore. We put them in the jumperoo's and they are so happy!

Sorry, I have no advice. I'm just happy to have them sleep from 7pm until 4! I'll take it - that's a nice stretch for me )

Regarding the other post about doing CIO - I've tried it but haven't had any success so I decided to keep getting up with them for another week then try again. Unless it's the start of bedtime - mine have NEVER woken up, cried for a little while then went back to sleep. NEVER NEVER NEVER - once they start crying at any time in the middle of the night or early morning, they become hysterical and start screaming and yelling if you don't go in there. Their faces turn bright red and they start to hold their breath. It's just awful!

I'm going to give it a break for awhile, and then try try again!

Mine go to bed at the same time (6pm) every night NO MATTER WHAT.. so that helps.. There is no variation in the time they go to bed..

I go to bed at nite, shut my door, turn on 2 HIGH POWER fans and of course... NO monitor-- (don't even have one).. and don't check on them or anything until they are allowed out of their cribs at 6:30 am. I do not get them before that because I do not hear them!! If I heard them-- I'd probably be like you and have to get them at 5 am. My husband says they are OFTEN up at like 5:30 or so. Doesn't matter cuz their wake up time is 6:30 am. THis way, we always stay on track and they "know" that they do not get to get up earlier.

It has worked for us for 4 mos now- (they're 7 mos old, 6 adjusted.)

I agree that your only option would be to CIO. If you're not ready to do that, you'll have to keep getting up with one of them. I know it is hard. I broke my Hannah of getting the 3-4am bottle but then she would still want her paci and was unable to find it. I kept getting up for several weeks to give it to her and finally decided I'd had enough. It only took a few nights and now she sleeps like a champ. Until 5:30am that is! ha ha I don't get them out of bed until 6am though.
