I am starting this weekend training for a Aide job at a Retirement Home..... I had just looked up night before while out on the porch and said "Dear Lord Help [IMG]" Hubby's buisness is not doing well at all and we might have to shut the doors within the next month.....To top it off his helper quit him and he will have to wing it alone till he can find someone. The next day the phone rings and its a friend of mine wanting to know if I wanted to work part-time. I'm thinking its God's way of answering my prayers.

The pay is not great but I just feel like I need to help make grocery & diaper money and some time away from home is also what I need. I have not worked outside the home in nearly 7years, I just hope it Doesn't KILL me [IMG] this would be a great way for me to "Ease" back into the work force. And who knows It might work into something better in a few years.

Hubby is NOT happy about this at all [IMG] He is ILL cause he will have to work all week and baby sit on the weekends. WELL I baby sit all week and I will work on Weekends. Isn't that called TEAM work Or am I being unfair about doing this without his blessings??

I will be working on weekends and maybe 1 or 2 days during the week at night. I don't want to work alot during the week cause I would miss my 6yr old, he would be getting off the bus as I was going to work and when I got home he would be in the bed. [IMG]

For the ones that has a part-time job, Do you like working part-time.

[IMG] I work part time. I work 2 days, 8 hour shifts from 4am - noon. My mom watches the twins so no expense for day care. It provided me with some time away. It was a needed break from the babies at times and a way of interacting with people who don't cry, fuss or make baby sounds. [IMG] Well, at least not every day! [IMG] I started when the babies were 6 months old and so it has been a year now. Other than my hours, it works for me. On those days, because it starts so early, I don't get much sleep. It has it's advantages and disadvantages. I know they would love for me to work the weekends (and not during the week), but I just could not be away from family on those times. We aren't in that desperate need for $$. HTH

Thanks MNT I like you feel the same way about interaction with other people. I don't go much and I live out in the country, Many days I don't even know a world exist past our back 40 I don't see cars, houses or people. [IMG] [IMG]

I am working weekends and maybe the night shift during the week (4 to midnight) I picked those shifts cause that is the only time hubby can sit while I work. There is NO way I could afford daycare or even if I could I couldn't make it anywhere by 8:00am during the week LOL.....

For those that work fulltime.....Someone was telling me you can apply for help with daycare (hers was free or VERY low) just apply at your local DHR (it has to be a licenced Daycare) they go by total income and how many there are in the family. I'm sure we would be eligible but like I say there is NO way I can get 4 people ready, feed and out the door by 8:00am.

I do, and I LOVE it! I went back when the girls were 4 months old, and I was so scared, and was so sad to do it. Now I actually enjoy it. Its nice to get out of the house for a bit. Sometimes I leave early and just stop and get a coffee and sit in my car for a few minutes and drink it. I look forward to that! I still am home with the girls a lot, but I get that time away and it is refreshing. I DO miss the girls, especially when it is slow, but I know I still get to see them most of the week and be there for them. Just try it, give yourself a month, and see how you feel. It doesnt have to be forever, with me, remembering that helps a lot.

I work part time evenings from 7-midnight~ish Mon-Fri. It is very hard at times, but I just keep reminding myself that atleast I'm not working full time! They money definitely helps, we would not make it without it, that's for sure. It can put a strain on the marriage also, when both of you are constantly switching off watching the kids and neither of you ever seem to get a break. It's do-able though, you can make it work and decide what is best for your family [IMG]

I work part time.... every day (M-F) 11-3 pm
It's a nice break, but I do miss the girls.
My parents retired and they take care of the girls when I'm gone...I have to admit...I feel very blessed with our arrangement!

I work from home and DH is great with helping out with the housework. I was afraid he would expect me to do EVERYTHING, but he didn't. His job is being eliminated, so, I didn't really have a choice.

Well I start in the morning [IMG]....Hubby tried to talk me out of it tonight saying I was not going to make enough money to amount to anything. I said well it can be grocery & Diaper money. He is still not happy....I think if nothing else he needs a life lesson on what I do ALL DAY LONG. Then if it doesn't work out he will appreciate me more [IMG]

Yall wish me luck I am VERY nervous [IMG]

Good luck 2morrow! DO what you need to do for your family, your DH will eventually get into just fine. I have been working PT evenings since the twins were 3 months, 3-8:30 four days a week and I go to school one weekend a month F 5-10, S 8-5, S 8-5. My DH doesn't love it but he manages pretty well. Currently he is laid off (two weeks before Christmas!) and he has been with the twins and my 4 year old ALL the time! I am starting to feel a little bad for him, but there is nothing we can do right now, we need the $$$ with me working, and I need to finish my Masters Degree before I turn 35!!!! Sometimes it feels like it will never end...

Good luck tomorrow, I'm rooting for ya! [IMG]

    I survived [IMG]

I worked as an aide from 16 to about 21yrs old BUT that has been a LONG time ago....It sorta started coming back to me....There were only about 3 residents that had to be cleaned up, Ya know what I mean?? I thought "I can't get away from poopy diapers" [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

All in all I think I will like it, Its 10 times better than the nursing home work I use to do with 15 to 20 patients and half were bed ridden.

I work part time too! The paycheck I bring home does go for groceries, toiletries and diapers. I love it and I think we'd miss my paycheck if I didn't have it. Good luck.
