Anyone use life jackets for the lake, ocean, or even pool?

We live in a lake community which also has a pool. I haven't used it yet this Summer because DH is gone. He will be back in July and I know we will want to take advantage of the water then. I was wondering if anyone uses or has used life jackets instead of floaties or swim rings. I know they make those swimsuits with either foam or an inflatable piece too, but thought they may get more use out of a life jacket.
If you know where to purchase these things, please let me know that too.
    Thanks so much!

My boys each have a Diego Life Jacket for 30-55lbs. they are 30lbs from Walmart about $15-$20. I use it when I take them in my MIL's pool which is about 3ft. they can just about stand tippy toe in their jackets with me holding them. We have a 2ft that I only fill about a 1ft and I do not use them in there but basically if they will be in a big pool I put them on. They have just started to use them and Ian does not like it on him but after a timehe stops complaining. I feel safer with them having it on but you still have to be right there with them as they can cause them to turn face down in the water. We will also be going on vaca to the beach and our hotel has a large swimming pool where I will also use them hopefully they will keep them on!

    We got ours from Sam's.

When we're at the lake where DH's parents live, they wear them constantly. We're on the boat & jet skis some, on the dock, on the beach area - this way, we know they're covered.

We use the 0-50 pound model of these: West Marine Cruiser (made by Stearns) We're on our second year of use out of them and I expect they will use them through age 4. A great buy at $20 IMHO. They seem very comfortable wearing them.

We use them whenever I have them in the water. DH is working long hours and I have the summer off. There was no way that I would be able to watch all three of them without some kind of help. The vests do not mean that they will float with the correct end up. I still have to watch that everyone has their head above water but now it's possible. Before it was not.
