I am looking for recommendations on a baby sling. After carrying around my girls more lately I have decided it would be nice to have use of my hands again:)

I haven't used a sling persay, but I love my baby Bjorn. My boys love it too because now they are big enough to face forward and they can look around. I also think it will be nice for going to the grocery store. Before I was putting one infant carrier in the cart and the other one on top. This did not leave too much room for groceries, but now I can put one baby in the Bjorn and the other one in the cart in his carrier.

The only drawback I would say is that they are kind of pricey (I think like 70-80 dollars). I got one at my shower and a friend let me borrow hers, so Dh and I both have one now.

I'm planning on using one!! There are all sorts of different kinds. I'm probably going to get a Moby wrap at first. My childbirth class instructor said it's possible to put newborn twins in that kind (both at once). There is also the Hotsling that has a pouch, but you have to make sure you get the correct fit.

i have a moby and was able to wear both girls for just a few times. You can pick up bjorns at most consigment shops, r check your local craigslist. I also have an Ergo - pricey, about $90, and the baby can ONLY face you, but - it converts so you can carry them in front, on your hip or on your back. And it has a big thick belt like a quality backpack which REALLY makes a difference. I have a bjorn too but it kills my back. It's not one of the new ones w/the lumbar support, but even so having the weight on my hips instead of my shoulders really helps.

I LOVED carrying my monkeys in my Moby, however, it takes a bit to get used to tying them. IF you can find someone to show you how that will help. AND there are a bunch of different ways to tie it and place them as they get bigger, more head control, et.c.

i have a really hard time with my sling. I have it adjusted as small as it will go and my baby will still hang way too low. I guess i don't understand how to use it....I love it though if it were proper fitted....when i am cleaning it helps.

I used a sling with my singletons, but have grown to love both the moby and the ergo with the twins. The Moby was good for carrying both when they were little. Then the Ergo was good for getting a kid on my back (and out of the way, but happy) when they were about 4 months, which is bit younger than they reccomend I think. I found both of mine used through the local mot group.

I have used a hotslings pouch from day one. I love it. DH wears it too. I think it's definitely a personal preference thing, so maybe you could find a few friends who have some of the ones you're considering, and try them out? I have a baby bjorn, and have used it once. The pouch was excellent for the newborn phase because they can snuggle down in and feel secure. The bjorn is nice for older babies who don't mind having their arms and legs out---but by the time they are in that phase, they are so heavy to carry! I can still carry mine on my hip with the pouch without it hurting at all. Just some things to consider. Each one has it's own set of pros and cons.
