Just wondering if anyone has tried the similac alimentum formula for colic. it costs more but i'm wondering if will cut down the gas my daughter has. they are currently on similac sensitive for gas and fussiness.

when DS first came home he cried ALOT and it was obvious it was stomach pain. i switched to alimentum and it helped TONS. took about 3 days to see a huge difference, but i saw small things within the first day

WHen the girls were a few weeks old we switched to Enfamil's Nutramigen, which is similar to the Allimentum. Made a HUGE difference for us! We were told to have Madison on that because she had blood in her diaper from the Similac Isomil formula. Claire had been more the colicky baby so we just decided to switch her too so that they were on the same formula. She was a different baby in just a few days. It is soooo expensive but it was well worth the money and I would do it again when we have more children if it came down to that!

My son didn't have colic- but he had digestive issues and reflux. When we switched to Alimentum- it was a world of difference. We also chose to try to use the ready made as much as we could because our pediatrician said the way it is made helps aid digestion vs. the water and powder we'd mix at home.

We still use it! We are switching to soy but she still needs it. We had to supplement with meds too but I think the formula was the bulk of it that helped.

I switched one of the girls to the Alimentum. It seemed to help a bit. Maybe her situation wasn't as desperate as I thought.
She was on it for a week and then we tried the Soy. She did GREAT on that, but then I started reading all of these terrible
things about soy and because I am so paranoid, I took her off of it, and back on Sensitive. I think they kind of grew out of
that colic/reflux stage and now they do great on the Similac Sensitive. We are still using the ready to feed in the big bottles.
I also used some of the Mylicon drops.

I switched mine to nutramigen too...HUGE difference. It was worth every $$$ for us.

For the record, I know someone who managed to have it covered by her insurance, so it's worth asking around.

We used Enfamil's Nutramigen for one of the boys and it was worth every penny. I really don't think I could have left him at daycare and gone back to work if it wasn't for the formula change. It took 24 hours and I swear we had a different baby on our hands. He was suddenly smiling and just a happy little baby. I still feel bad that I didn't try it sooner, he must have been just miserable. It was expensive, but it was so worth it to see those smiles. We took him off around 7 months and switched to Good Start with Enfamil AR mixed and now just Good Start with rice cereal mixed in to help the spitting up. He's still a happy boy. You can always give it a try to see if it helps - if not, no harm done.

We ordered by the case online and it was much cheaper than in the stores.

My babies don't have colic but they spit up a lot and had constipation issues. They were also fussy but not colicy. We switched to Alimentum and it helped a ton. My dd has stopped drenching herself and us and they go to the bathroom much more consistently now. I definitely think it helps with gas also. GL.

We switched to Alimentum when ds was about 6 weeks old--He screamed day and night--It did not help us.. Nothing did--His colic just had to run its course. He finally got better at 4months old--I was just about CRAZY!!
