Anyone tried NEOCATE?

My 12 week old has severe reflux and is not responding to Prevacid. We just took her to a GI specialist who wanted us to try Neocate. Just curious if anyone else has experience with this formula as it is SO expensive!!

 

We use it, but to up the calories of breastmilk because they are preemies.

We have a prescription for it, so its free for us. I just had 20 cans delivered free of charge. Call your insurance company and see if you can get it covered with a prescription. if it is a medical necessity, you could argue your insurance to cover it.

 

We use Alimentum--which is similar but not quite as expensive--for DS's reflux. Now, his reflux is completely under control.

 

We used it for my oldest, 7 years ago. We got a prescription from the doctor and the insurance covered it. They used to ship it to us. It is extremely elemental but it worked better than Alimentum. He had a rashy bum from the Alimentum.

I remember you had to mix it warm to get it to dissolve well. And it was kinda oily.
