My OB's office said it would be okay to take, but I am a little nervous. However, the pain at night from lying down is getting really, really bad. It takes at least 5 minutes just to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. I don't want something that is going to make me too loopy - but I also think I need a little pain relief. The pain is mainly in the pelvic area, tailbone, and legs - so I am pretty sure it is just the weight of the babies. But - ouch!

Hmm.. I never took anything like that for sleep aid. I did take some benadryl the night before my c-section because I was worried I wouldn't sleep. I lived on sudafed because of pregnancy induced sinus issues during my twin pregnancy.

Yea, I really need it more for pain relief, but they said it was okay to that the PM for sleeping too.
I don't know though, I don't want to be so sleepy that I don't get out of bed to pee and scare myself into thinking my water broke :rotflmbo:

:rotflmbo: Sorry, couldn't help but laugh! It affects people in different ways. Tylenol PM doesn't really affect me for sleeping. If you haven't had any issues with it in the past, then you probably won't have any now! LOL Good luck!

When i went to the ER about a week ago they gave me Tylenol 3 for my back pain which didn't help at all and i still didn't go to sleep and i hadn't slept hardly in three days at this point! And since i have been home i have taken extra strength tylenol 650mg about two times for pain and no relief so i think it all depends on your system. I hate taking meds when i am pregnant so if it doesn't work i just don't bother with it. I am in love with the heating pad though! :icon_biggrin: Good luck and i hope you you can get some relief somehow!

With my OB's permission, I take a tylenol and a unasom--which they said was the equivalent of a Tylenol PM--each night. I couldn't sleep, partly because of bad back pain (the babies knocked the left side of my pelvis out of place) and partly from I don't know what--hormones? Discomfort? Kicking babies? Whatever it was, I went through a three week phase of sleeping 2-4 hours a night.

Yeah, I was nervous at first about taking anything, but then I realized that the doctor said it was safe, and that it was worth it if I had more energy to get through the rest of the pregnancy.

Anyway, it's made all the difference in the world. It gets me past the I can't sleep phase, and yes I do wake up to pee (no wet beds so far, LOL!), but I still can get to sleep more quickly afterwards than I was. I'm still a little groggy in the mornings, but it's totally worth it to sleep better.

I have nights of bad hip and back pain too -- it is miserable to sleep so poorly. I have been taking 1/2 a Unisom every night for the past two weeks, which helps me fall asleep at night, and go back to sleep quickly after waking up to pee about every 2 hours. I might try adding the Tylenol to help with the hip pain. If found that with a full tab of Unisom, I was pretty groggy in the mornings (not great when you have to get up and go to work all day), but I don't have that problem with only 1/2 tab. It is safe to take during pregnancy. It's frequently recommended as treatment for m/s, and that is in the early weeks when all the vital organs are forming, etc. So it should definitely be OK towards the end. You deserve to sleep and get some rest for your babies....
