My little ones are 7 months adjusted and still show no real signs of fighting the swaddle. Their OT keeps saying that swaddling is fine, but I'm starting to wonder if I will ever be able to wean them from it. So how did it work for you? Did your babies show cues of wanting to be done swaddling? Or did you just decide it was time? When you did go to wean, how did it go? I would really appreciate any advice/stories you have. I'm starting to think it might be time to wean, but just have NO idea how to go about doing it. TIA!

If they aren't fighting it and they still fit in their swaddles, I say just let them be. But if you want to wean them sooner rather than later, I'd suggest maybe just freeing one limb at a time. Say this week it's the right arm, and do that for a week. Then next week free the other arm.
Mine were starting to break free themselves when we weaned them, so it didn't take us long to get them used to not being swaddled. ETA- We weaned right around 6 months.

We did not swaddle past 6 months, but like Gina, mine were busting free of the swaddle on their own, so we just stopped at that point. I would also agree that when you do decide to wean them, to try removing one limb at a time. Good luck!

I was wondering this also. I still swaddle but the boys break free. I always find their arms out and it around their chest. I am just afraid to give it up because they are sttn.

I swaddled until 11 months! Some people thought I was nuts, but it totally worked for us! If their happy and content, I heard it's safe til a year. When we finally weened, I just went cold-turkey. They CIO in their cribs for the first nap, but after that, it's went completely smooth!

We stopped when they were breaking free and waking from that. I switched them to sleep sacks with the arm holes sewn shut (so thier arms are still kinda restricted in the sleep sack) then once they were used to that I unsewed the holes and thier arms were free! We still use sleep sacks.

I was also wondering about this. I had an additional question. For those of you that swaddle do you do it for naps and bedtime? My LO are 4 months and I have found that they sleep much better when swaddled but I didn't know if doing it for both was a good thing or not.

Good to hear that it wasn't too tramautic :D Thanks for the replies. We're currently working on some other stuff, so I think I'll wait another couple weeks unless they start giving me some frantic cues.

I swaddle for both. When we brought them home from the NICU, they recommended that we swaddle. My babies OT says it's a good thing and has encouraged it, so as far as growth goes, it is perfectly OK.
