Anyone Opt for 2 Single Strollers in place of a double?

A double stroller seemed like a no-brainer with twins. However, we're going to Disney next month and DH and I are thinking we might be better off with two singles. We love our Mac single. It's so easy to collapse and toss on your back. I bought some stroller clips to attach them, but am not sure they will work well with macs.

if it works, it might be worth it... but we've gone to Disney and they have great "stroller parking" areas near most all the attractions, and its not a big deal to have a double stroller and park it. we didn't have a need to go and do separate things... so we didn't need single strollers.

I am debating on buying and taking 2 single strollers on a trip to Europe... seems like the streets and such might be easier to navigate 2 singles in old cities... but for Disney seems either option would work.

Thanks for the feedback. I should clarify that my concern is more for the ease of the airport and Disney transportation. I'm not sure a double would be easy...then again if I've learned nothing from my 6.5 month tenure with twins it's that nothing is easy. lol

We have two umbrella strollers we use almost exclusively for airport travel. I've tried it with the double stroller, but it's a lot harder. The stroller has to go through the scanner, or else it has to be hand scanned, which takes longer. The umbrella strollers fold down so easily, it's no big deal. I've also come across areas of security screening which just don't fit a double stroller. I had to take both babies out, fold the stroller, and set it back up on the other side.

I just got two 12 dollar strollers from wal-mart. It's been a great investment!

We use cheapo umbrella strollers from Babies R Us when we travel and know we'll all be together the whole time. It works out great at the airport especially. I also don't have to worry about my expensive and beloved double stroller getting ruined at the gate check in. Storage is a problem, but we have bags we hang over the handle bars, or we use backpacks. The single strollers are also easier to get onto shuttles, etc.

I had no problem taking my combi twin through the airport when we flew in january. Any stroller you take has to be folded down to go through the scanner, or if it doesn't fit they'll pat it down manually. It was fine just taking the babies out and having dh hold them both while I quickly folded the stroller or pushed it through the metal detector, then we each carried a baby through, with the combi's tri fold design it fit through some scanners but not through others, but even if it was folded I can unfold it with one hand and then we quickly buckled the babies back in!

We had to chase our two older children as well so it was easier for me to be able to push the babies myself and let dh handle the older two (or vice versa) rather than each of us have a baby to push as well as wrangle the older kids! So for us, the double was a necessity when we flew! :D

GL with whatever you decide. But I just wanted to put a plug in for Disney. They have revamped everything to fit double strollers. So whatever you decide will work fine.

we had double strollers for when the girls were younger, but when they were about a year old, we bought 2 single strollers, particularly for shopping and strolling around the mall. it's so much easier to maneuver than that dang double stroller! i think 2 singles at disney would work out better too. have fun!
