The pedi suggested I use Isomil DF for the boys for the next 5-6 days to help solidify their stools. The DF stands for Diarrhea Formula. I had never heard of it before but set out on a crusade to find it with two babies that had 4.5 days running worth of running (ha ha I made a funny.) I hit BRU. TRU, Walgreens, Wal Mart, Target, Publix and Winn Dixie. No one had it. When I got home I went on Similac's website, it doesn't come in powder and the ready made is a bit pricey- 24 eight oz cans for $47 or 6 thirty two oz bottles for $57. My boys go through 40 oz each per day PLUS what goes into their cereal.

My question is...has anyone heard of and/or used the DF? Does it make a big dif? Where did you get it? If I have to order from manufacturer it won't get here til almost the end of the time I'm supposed to be giving it to them- do you think it's really worth it?

We used it when the twins had rotovirus last summer at 4 months old. We were on our 10th day of diarrhea and vomiting, so I was happy to have a suggestion. I found it at our Walgreens, I was told only do it for 48 hours. It helped a lot. In fact, they kinda got constipated a bit (easily fixed though). My little girl had to have half and half regular formula/pedialyte for longer because she kept vomiting with full strength formula after we got the diarrhea taken care of.

I wonder if switching to soy would help since the milk is what is irritating their systems?

    HTH!
