Anyone have this happen?

For the past two days, my LO's eat maybe 4 oz probably 4 times a day and then at bedtime, they want an 8oz bottle. 8oz scares me because of their spitting issues but they have kept it down. I offer a bottle every 3 hours but they don't drink more than 4oz and getting that into them is a chore. Any ideas on what they are doing? Last week they were eating 5oz every 3 hours during the day. Over the weekend they had one day when they went 5oz every 2 hours. Any ideas??

Growth spurt would be my guess. Maybe they are just needing a few extra calories right now. As long as they can keep it down, that's great!

Same here. I bet they go back to their regular routine in a couple of days.

Could it be that they are hot and need to hydrate themselves? Or maybe if you give them their bath at night, after a slightly hot bath they might need more milk for the same purpose. Sometimes this happens with my boys.

Had the same thing happen to my babies. It stopped after a week and then started again in a months or so and then stopped. Doctor said that it's a growth spurt. Also I was told to gradually "transfer" them to 4 hour feedings but more volume. 6oz every 4 hours vs. 4 oz. every 3 hours, or something like that. It was hard for the first week but we did it and they started to eat a bit better because I soooooo understand you when you said feeding is a chore.

I agree with a growth spurt too. Sometimes it happens at regular intervals (6 wks, 3-4 months, 6 months are common ones), and sometimes it happens randomly for a few days or a week! :)

Hard to say, but since you know that they are able to take more oz in at one sitting, I would maybe try and stretch that schedule out to 4 hours, and see if they are easier to feed. You can always go back if it doesn't work out/they start spitting up a ton.
