I found a chart on the web a while ago for the kids to learn their abc's, but can't find anything with numbers and colours...does anyone have anything? I like to print them off in colour and hang around their play areas....any help would be greatly appreciated.... :icon_biggrin:

I never did find anything. I finally went into Word Perfect and ran off pages of numbers in different colors. It works for us.

I stenciled them on Micah's bedroom walls. I got 3 packs of LARGE letter flashcards and taped them around the middle kinda like a border but just above his head level- they have pics on them. Got them at Office Depot in the section where the teacher's stuff is. His walls are also painted in different colors. Figure I can paint it over in a few years (maybe longer since the babies are in there too now)

We had cling on letters and numbers for their windows. One window had the alphabet on it and the other had numbers. I got them at Staples and they were pretty inexpensive.

Teacher stores would be a great place to start. Most poster/charts are around $2.00. I teach third grade and went to Dollar Tree today and found some great deals for my classroom-name tags, charts etc. While digging through the charts, I found a great two-pack with one ABC chart and one number chart. I picked it up for the girls since we are planning to do some letter/number activities as part of our pre-pre-school. They also had a number line with objects so the children can count the objects and relate them to the #. Dollar Tree is my favorite teacher store, though it does vary from location to location. Luckily, the one closest to my home tends to have the most in stock.

If you check out some of the "teaching english as a foreign language" sites online (look up either "TEFL children" or "TESL children" on google or something), they have some amazing resources for teaching your child numbers and letters. Most are to print out and colour in - ie for older children - but there are some already in colour.
Try this site for starters (although I think it's just a colour in one - I don't seem to have bookmarked the others as we don't have a colour printer).

I bought flash cards and have them taped to my walls. I started with A for a few weeks. They will point and say "A". Then we went to B, and once they knew where both a and b were, we put up C. That is as far as we are right now. D is coming soon tho. ;)
