I would like to get a part-time job while my kids are in school - full day kindergarten. I would love to do something during the hours of 10am - 2pm, but I am finding this is difficult. Does anyone have a part-time job that they do while their kids are at school? If so, I'd love to hear about it. Salary isn't a huge concern. I'm really looking for a way to keep my skills (office) up to date and enjoy some adult interaction while getting paid.

If you have any ideas too - I'm interested in hearing them. Looking forward to your responses!

I teach preschool part time while my kids are in PreK. It is fantastic!!

The girls PreK hours are 8:45-11:45 M,T, TH, F

My teaching hours are 8:45-11:30 T/TH.

I teach in the same building as the girls school.

Often preschool teachers are req to have a teaching degree or AA in child development, but a teachers aide (or co-teacher in my case) may not. My co-teacher is fantastic and she learned all she knows from her 5 kids!

I would look in the school to substitute, sub secretary, sub aide, or other school type jobs....otherwise it is hard to find 10-2. Maybe waitstaff for lunch? I know Target/ Kohls, etc are hiring seasonal staff for short 4-5 hr shifts if that interests you.

    Good Luck!

For several years I worked as a cafeteria aide in the school system. The hours were perfect 10-1:30. My commute was 10 minutes and if an emergency came up with the girls at school, I could leave with out much trouble. I was home before the bus, even if I ran to the grocery store after work. I am now working as the Food service Director of a different school, but I am still home by 2pm, long before the bus at 4pm.

Another suggestion would be your local library, or the school's libraries. Check with the local schools to see if they need office staff part time. It can't hurt to ask, although those jobs are usually full time, and highly sought after.

I don't have a job during school hours (we homeschool), but I have a job in the evening. Since my mom is my babysitter, I had to be very picky with my hours and was having a hard time finding something that would work. So, I signed up with a temp agency and my rep found me something perfect in about 2 weeks. The job is temporary with the hope of it become permanent sometime in the future. So, I would recommend trying a temp agency. They will have a lot of listings that are not available to the public and can do the leg-work for you.

I teach parent's day out and do childcare at my church. I work Tues and Thurs from 8:30 to noon and Wed from 8:30-3:00. It's good pay and very flexible if I have sick kids or need to attend a school event. Lots of churches around here offer opportunities and you do not have to attend church there.
