I saw my OB yesterday and she checked me again. I'm still 3cm and now 80% effaced, she stripped some of my membranes hoping to get things started for us. She said it could be any day now....I'm just getting frustrated because I haven't been having many contractions. I was on oral terb for 9 wks due to PTL contractions and now that I'm off bedrest and the meds I haven't been contracting- go figure!

Anyone have any success stories as a result of having your membranes stripped?? I've had a lot of discharge since then, but it's all been clear, not pink.

I had my membranes stripped when I had my son and it was very succesful. I had my son a day 1/2 later. I started having contractions that night but not strong enough for me to go to the hospital. The next morning/day they got more intense. By that night they were stronger and closer and I went to the hospital to give birth to my son. They did give me Pitocin to speed things. But all was well. ;) Good Luck!!!

I had my membranes stripped with my oldest DD and it did no good. I didn't go into labor until a week after they stripped them.

I did with my last baby,I had her the next day, but I also drank Castor Oil, which I think really put me in labor.

It really wasn't. I've heard from some people that it is, but I didn't find it to be. But after all the cervical checks and fetal fibernectins over the last 2 months I think my tolerance for vaginal exams has gone up! LOL

I had my membranes stripped with both my boys, went walking and had them both the next day.

  8. Had it with my dd at 41 weeks - didn't want to be induced. It was reasonably painful, there was quite a lot of blood, and I went into labor about 1/2 hour later. Evidently I was ready :)

When I was pregnant with my first son the doctor stripped my membranes. Later that day we went walking in the mall and the next day I started having contractions and at 2 in the morning my son was born. It is successful.

    Good luck~

My ob did it but didn't tell me he was doing it... I was 3 days overdue... My water broke about 2 hours later...but I was having ctx previously, just was completely closed.

You are doing great for 36 weeks... I don't think you'll make it past 38 weeks if you are already 3cm and 80%... do you feel well enough to do some walking?... I'd try walking to bring on those ctx... but 36 weeks is still a bit early, maybe your body just isn't quite ready yet...as hard as it is, give your body enough time... going into labor on your own usually goes much more smoothly than trying to make it happen early.

I was close to 3cm 80% at 36 wks. at every appt. my OB thought for sure I wouldn't make it to my next appt. I walked in for my induction, finally at 39 wks exactly being 90% and 5cm

Your body will go when you are ready. :)

I have not experienced this yet, but my sister went through this and it was very successful for her. She had it done in the after noon , late that night the contrations started, and early in the morning she had to go to the hospital and her daughter was born that day.
