    Hi ladies,

I was just curious to see how many of you got pregnant naturally after going through IVF? Our twin girls were conceived via IVF and are now almost 4 months old. I turned down birth control at my 6 week check up. I am secretly hoping to get pregnant naturally, but thinking my chances are pretty slim. I am 39 yrs old.

    Thanks!

    Hi yah!

I am happy to say I am one of those "miracle's"!!! There are alot of us here who are :)

We started to try when our sons turned 1, (My period didn't return and regulate until then anyway). Under the advice of our IVF Doctor we decided to try naturally on the "right" dates for a year.... 8 months later we conceived our daughter on Christmas day!!!

    Miracle of miracles!!!

She is due in 31 days and we couldn't be happier!

    GOOD LUCK!
    BB

ps: Nice to save the $11 000.00 dollars too!!! :)

My friend did IVF and then got pregnant natually for her DD#2. They were not trying, just figured that they could not get pregnant and it just happened.

ETA: I also have another friend that did IVF and it didn't work. She ended up getting pregnant a few months after she adopted her infant son.

:hi: Me!!! Infertility for 7 years. Got pregnant with twins on our first IVF and then just after the twins' 2nd birthday got pregnant with another set!! :shok: An internet friend of mine had the same thing happen to her!! There is something about pregnancy that throws the infertility to the curb! :)

I wish I could say me too- but not yet, though we hope to!

** not to hijack but do you what the infertility reason was for IVF and people who got pregnant afterward naturally??**

I've heard that if it is only a female factor (endo, annovulation, PCOS, etc) and the woman has working tubes/uterus then the chances of a natural conception are much higher than if it is male factor. Combination factors almost never have a surprise (per my RE)

I'm another one! And ours was due to severe male factor infertility so I didn't think there was any way I could get pregnant naturally. We had to do IVF with ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) I also turned down birth control since I didn't figure we'd need it. I got pregnant while still breastfeeding the twins after only having had 2 irregular cycles...so it can definitely happen! We were shocked!!! but happy.

My friend has IVF twins and her surprise was born a month after they turned two. She had two blocked tubes. Somehow pregnancy must have unblocked them! Before the IVF cycle, she ttc for a year on her own, then I think she did around 4 months of Clomid before seeing an RE who did an HSG and found the blocked tubes. When she was dx with that, they went straight to IVF.

We had undiagnosed infertility. THey found nothing wrong with either one of us. I think it was me (and of course dh thinks it was him). I tend to ovulate late. But, doesn't matter now. We were THRILLED about our surprise pregnancy.

My internet friend was in her mid 20's and there were both female & male factors, but she still conceived naturally after her twins were born.

Happened to me! TTC for 5 years before getting very lucky on our second IVF/ICSI cycle. That gave DH and I our b/g twins.

No birth control and I ended up conceiving this little one naturally when they were about a year old....looking back I probably conceived him on their birthday.

Never thought it would happen. We were unexplained until our first IVF when it was "said" I had bad egg quality issues.

There was a lady in my breastfeeding class back when I was pregnant with the twins...they had just brought home a son from an international adoption to find out she was pregnant (after going through all kinds if IF, she got pregnant naturally as they were going through the adoption process!)

Thank you ladies! It sounds like quite a few of you or people that you know have had a miracle after going through infertility. It gives me hope!

    Another question I do have.....

I stopped pumping about a week ago. I wasn't BFing (didn't work out), just pumping a few times a day. I am exclusively formula feeding the girls. Anyway, I have not had a period yet and my girls are 4 months old. Yesterday, I had tons of fertile CM. The most I have ever seen. I also had a little bit of cramping. Could it be that I ovulated without having a period? Didn't think it was possible, but who knows.

    Thanks!

Yes it is definitly possible but for me it took a few months to regulate into a regular period.

We didn't do IVF, but we did IUI plus Follistim with our first pregnancy.

I recently found out that I am expecting again, and it happened the old fashioned way! It was quite a surprise.

I got pregnant on our second IVF try after switching doctors. Our problem was me. Diminished Ovarian Reserve. That's like one of the worst problems. Not many eggs left and not great quality. So I wonder if it's possible for us to be one of those stories.
Our twin girls are 10 weeks old and I can't wait to try again. My regular OB said to wait one full year to try, but at my 6 week appointment I talked him
    into around 10 months.
I hope we are that surprise story. We said we would do one more IVF cycle if we don't get pregnant within a few months.

I'm sure there are exceptions but I'm pretty sure you are supposed to ovulate before having a period. It's part of the beginning of your cycle. Good luck!

kate1587 - Congrats on your twin girls! Why did your OB tell you to wait a full year before trying for another? I've never heard that.

I guess to give my uterus time to heal. And, he said there are risks involved for the baby. He mentioned low birth weight, but I also read all kinds of problems could occur because of getting pregnant so soon after. One being birth defects, something about your folic acid levels being depleted??
I know so many people get pregnant right after with absolutely no problems, and most of their pregnancies are "surprises." Since we are actually going to try, I would feel guilty not waiting knowing what I know.
    Good luck!
