I hate to be a whiner, but - my back is hurting so badly! I can't seem to find any relief. I'm 26w 4d; have gained about 25 lbs since found out I was pg (i'm not too big to start, but not tiny, either), but - ugh, especially the area aroun my mid-back (where I have always had difficult with some vertebrae that seem to go 'out' all the time; usually my DH can put them back in but not since I'm pregnant.

Just wondering if anyone has any reccos: I take warm baths (probably too hot), use a heating pad on my back, lots of pillows - anything else?? I'm sure a really comfortable chair would help....

    Thanks!

I feel for you. I have scoliosis and usually have lots of issues with my back. I have a giant butt to even my baby belly out, so I actually am doing better in the back dept...it's the hips that kill me.

Have you considered getting refitted for a bra? Your boobs may have grown and nothing helped my back pain like a good, well-fitting bra. You might try an egg crate on the bed or some icy hot rubbed on your back...it gives me some relief. I like to rub it in my neck and temples when I get a headache. A maternity belt might help, too. Don't go for the girdle type (with a crotch). They are a nightmare when you have to pee all the time.

Yes! It's right across my mid-back! I used to just have dh crack my back..but I can't anymore. I know EXACTLY how you feel. I think I told you I finally got the belly bra, and I will say I think that it's helped. I haven't had nearly the pain as before. Who knows though...it seems like as soon as one pain goes away, a new one crops up!

I have had the same problem too in the exact same spot. I never really had great posture to begin with (esp. when sitting) and since getting pregnant I think it is just been easier to slouch [IMG] Even though it doesn't sound very comfortable I found that my most comfortable position at home is sitting on the floor with my back against the couch. The edge is right where it hurts and it makes me sit up straighter and seems to help. That and hot baths.

I can completely relate to you. I have the same problem - pain in the middle back area - sharp pains at times and pain in the lower back area. I'm 21 weeks and the doctor is telling me that with time it may only get worse. [IMG]
I wish I had answers for you - but outside of warm baths, heating pads, lots of pillows and good back support - there's not much more we can do. [IMG]

Have you asked your OB if you can be refered for physical therapy? I did this with my 1st (singleton) b/c of back sciatica in the 2nd trimester and it was a life saver. I already asked my new OB if I can get refered if I develop problems down the line (so far, so good).

    Good luck!

Oh, Jordari, I feel for you! The back pain is what finally pushed me over the edge to look for the maternity belt. Also, I got permission to take up to 8 Tylenol a day, though I haven't done more than 4 y.e.t...

OH YES YES YES. I am so depressed about being in constant agony with back ache. And I cant get comfortable at night and end up alone on the couch in a re-clining position. i have tried the maternity support belt but alas, sadly it does not live up to its claim. I am getting bigger by the minute and that worsen it.

With you Doc's ok, it is well worth the money to see a chiropractor or massage therapist who have been trained in prenatal massage.
Some insurance will cover part of chiropractor visits too!
