when you are talking to your babies, how many of you talk about yourself in the 3rd person?
    "mama's coming!"
    "mama loves you!"
"you need to take a nap now, cuz mommy's boobs are full and she needs to pump..." lol
    "mama needs a break!"

    :D

Yep, all the time. It surprised everyone when they were saying mamamamama just before three months....but it made sense to me b/c I said it all the time!

My twins are 2.5 and we're still trying to break that habit! I think I'm doing better, but DH constantly refers to himself as "Daddy." It was cute when they were babies, but now it drives me nuts!

Fortunately, it doesn't seem to confuse the children at all.

All the time! I also have this habit of calling them mommy or daddy. Not sure where that came from!

I've notice I do this too and it drives me crazy, especially because I have to consciously stop myself from doing it with adults.

It's going to thrill you to your toes until the whining stage starts...then you're going to want to change your name. :p

Yes, both dh and I refer to ourselves in the 3rd person. We got so bad that we started calling each other "Mommy" & "Daddy" which is something I swore I'd never do. It's mostly in jest but sometimes it would just slip out. We had pretty much broken ourselves of that habit with ds1 when N & M came along.

Edited: I'm not sure what I hit but there's a shortcut for posting using only the keyboard.

I did, and I couldn't stand that I did it! We made a conscious effort to break the habit around 2, because they were referring to themselves in the third person.

Mama would never refer to herself in the third person. That's silly. Mama thinks you're silly.

We're starting to refer to ourselves in 1st person again. It's nice to say "I love you!" again instead of "Mama loves you!" I always feel like I'm not talking about myself but some imaginary person called "Mama".
