Anyone else leave a water sippy in their cribs?

Does anyone leave a water sippy in the crib with their kids? B & J are on an antihistamine twice a day that serves as an appetite stimulant, but it seems to make them thirsty all the time (plus they were big drinkers to begin with). I have been having multiple issues with Jake waking very early in the morning as well as two hours into his nap (whereas he used to sleep 3+ hours). The first thing he wants to do when I get him out of his crib is drink his water. I think there are other issues like 2-year molars going on, but I'm wondering if part of his problem is he's super thirsty.

Does anyone else do this? I don't know why, but I feel weird about doing it.

I send my 3yo to bed with a sippy of water. As long as it's water, I don't think it can hurt!

Yes, mine have water cups in their crib.

I am contemplating it. I'm not quite sure they are ready to realize it's there in the middle of the night.

Melissa sleeps with a water sippy in her crib. She was waking up yelling that she was thirsty.

Now she wakes up yelling different things...

    LOL, Marie!

We don't. I'm not against it, I just don't feel like dealing with leaky cups.

We went through about a week of waking and crying for a drink of water at 10:30. I considered putting the cups in there with them but I was afraid of the leak factor. I also worried that I would want to stop giving them cups as we approach potty training time and then we'd have a habit to break. So, I went in and gave them their cups, stood there while they had their drink, and they would announce "all done" and hand me the cup and go right back to bed. I was so glad when they stopped because I didn't want this to be a nightly routine. I'm still not sure why they did this other than perhaps they just realized they could. My mom blames the "Llama Llama Red Pajama" book for giving them the idea.

Ditto! I do this esp. when they are ill.

FWIW, the thing Melissa sleeps with is a straw sippy made by (I think) Rubbermaid -- in the shape of a teddy bear! I bought two of these on a whim at the supermarket on sale. It's great in that it really doesn't leak. And truth is, she doesn't really drink from it at night, I can tell. It just sits there like another comfort item among the manymanymany.

I don't think it could hurt either. But the way their diapers are already overly-full in the morning, I am positive I would be changing sheets all the time.

Yes, we used to keep sippies half filled with water in their cribs and even their toddler beds. Once they were potty trained we did away with them.

I let Emma have a sippy of water. She rarely drinks it all, but it's refreshing all the same. Her diapers aren't that much more full in the morning but I'll definitely do away with them when she's potty training.

We do sippies for bedtime and naptime. They don't drink much but its enough to keep them from getting thirsty in the middle of the night.
